COVID-19 CHAMPIONSHIP POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

All contestants should be familiar with the policies and procedures in place.

 

COVID-19 CHAMPIONSHIP PARTICIPANT WAIVER

All contestants MUST sign the participant waiver prior to arriving at the championship. The waiver will be emailed to all contestants to sign digitally.

 

FIELD LIMIT

Field will be limited to 168 qualified entrants. At the close of entry, the field of 168 will be filled by the lowest USGA Handicap Indexes and Golf Canada Handicap Factors in addition to exempt players and Presidential Invitees.

 

ENTRY DEADLINE

Entry applications, along with the appropriate fee, must be completed or received by the PNGA by
4:30 p.m. on Monday, July 5, 2021.

 

REFUND POLICY

Refunds due to cancellation before the close of entry are subject to a $10 service charge. After the close of entry and up until round one pairings are released, refunds for documented and approved medical reasons are subject to a $25 service charge. No refund for any reason will be issued after round one pairings have been released.

Note: Players who cancel and are replaced by a player on the waiting list will only be subject to a $10 service fee.

 

COURSE YARDAGE

Course yardage is subject to change based on weather/course conditions. Hole-by-hole yardages are posted on the championship portal and will be emailed to players. Course Yardage: 6,894 yards, par-71

 

ONSITE REGISTRATION

All contestants must register in person with the PNGA at The Idaho Club prior to starting round one play. Registration will be located next to the practice putting green under the PNGA tent during the following times:

SUNDAY, JULY 25:                                                      11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

MONDAY, JULY 26:                                                    6:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. 

 

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS

Stroke play starting times for Monday, July 26 and Tuesday, July 27 will be posted on the championship portal and emailed to players on Monday, July 12. Preferred starting times and pairing requests will not be accepted.

 

SCHEDULE

STROKE PLAY: 36-hole stroke play to determine 64 qualifiers for match play. A tie for lowest qualifying scorer or last qualifier’s place will be decided immediately by a hole-by-hole play-off after the final group finishes on Tuesday, July 27.

 

MONDAY, JULY 26: Round 1 – Stroke Play Qualifying

Starting times from the #1 tee: 7:00 a.m. – 9:10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 2:40 p.m.

Starting times from the #12 tee: 7:30 a.m. – 9:40 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 3:10 p.m.

 

TUESDAY, JULY 27: Round 2 – Stroke Play Qualifying

Starting times from the #1 tee: 7:00 a.m. – 9:10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 2:40 p.m.

Starting times from the #12 tee: 7:30 a.m. – 9:40 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 3:10 p.m.

 

MATCH PLAY: A draw based on qualifying scores will be used. Ties in qualifying rounds will be decided by a blind draw, except that places of those participating in a play-off will be determined by performance in the play-off.

 

WEDNESDAY, JULY 28: Round of 64 

Starting times from the #1 tee: 7:30 a.m. – 12:10 p.m.

 

THURSDAY, JULY 29: Round of 32 

Starting times from the #1 tee: 7:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.

 

THURSDAY, JULY 29: Round of 16 

Starting times from the #1 tee: 12:30 p.m. – 1:40 p.m.

 

FRIDAY, JULY 30: Quarterfinals 

Starting times from the #1 tee: 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.

 

FRIDAY, JULY 30: Semifinals

Starting times from the #1 tee: 12:00 p.m. – 12:15 p.m.

 

SATURDAY, JULY 31: 36-hole Championship Match followed by an awards ceremony

Starting times from the #1 tee: 7:30 a.m. & 12:00 p.m.

 

PRACTICE ROUND

Contestants may play one complimentary practice round before the championship. Hosted practice rounds will be available after 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 23 and Saturday July 24, and after 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 25. 

 

Players who want to play additional practice rounds will be extended a special rate of $50 (walking) and $75 (riding) during the above times. Full rate will be charged outside of the reserved practice round times.

 

Players can schedule practice rounds by calling The Idaho Club golf shop at (208) 265-2345. Practice rounds must not be scheduled before the field is set on July 6.

 

PRACTICE RANGE

The practice range will be available for players to use during the following times:

Friday, July 23: 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Players only area)

Saturday, July 24: 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Players only area)

Sunday, July 25: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Full range)

Monday, July 26 – Saturday, July 31: 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Full range)

 

COURSE YARDAGE BOOKS

The Idaho Club yardage books are available for purchase in the golf shop for $20.

 

FOOD SERVICE (NO-HOST)

Grab-and-go breakfast sandwiches, deli sandwiches, snacks, Gatorade and water will be available starting at 6:30 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday in the golf shop. Beginning on Wednesday, Grab-and-Go breakfast will start at 7:00 a.m. in the golf shop.

 

The clubhouse restaurant will be open during the following times:

Sunday, July 25: 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Monday, July 26: 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, July 27: 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday, July 28: 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Thursday, July 29: 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Friday, July 30: 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Saturday, July 31: 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

In addition to the above options, A stationary beverage cart will be parked at the intersection of #4 green and #12 tee from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will have sundries available for purchase.

 

BOTTLED WATER

The PNGA will provide bottled water during the championship. Coolers will be at multiple locations on the golf course. 

 

HOSTED MEAL

Each contestant will receive one meal voucher at Player Registration to redeem on Tuesday, July 27 from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. All players will be able to order off a limited menu and eat inside the dining room, outside on the deck, or take it to-go.

 

METHODS OF PAYMENT

All major credit cards and cash.

 

HOURS OF OPERATION

The golf shop will be open from 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday and from 6:00 a.m. – dusk or after final match finishes on Wednesday – Saturday.

 

LOCKER ROOM

A locker room is not available.

 

GOLF CARTS

The Local Rule prohibiting the use of motorized transportation for competitors as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect.

 

PLAYER SHUTTLES

Shuttles will be provided to players in the following places: Putting green to #12 tee, #4 green to #5 tee, #8 green to #9 tee, #11 scoring area to clubhouse. 

 

Players starting on Hole #12 will be provided with a shuttle schedule to get from the putting green to the starting tee (about a 5 minute shuttle). Shuttles will leave on time and will not wait for players who are late to arrive. Be sure you are at the shuttle pick-up zone at the time scheduled. 

 

SPECTATOR CARTS

To provide an equal championship platform for all competitors, the use of carts by spectators is not permitted by the PNGA. 

 

CHAMPIONSHIP ACCOMMODATIONS FOR DISABLED SPECTATORS

The PNGA is committed to providing an enjoyable spectator experience for people with disabilities at PNGA championships. Requests from spectators seeking transportation onto the golf course due to a permanent disability, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), should be submitted one week in advance to the PNGA Championship Department. While spectator carts may not always be available at each site, the PNGA will make every effort to accommodate these requests when available.

 

Generally, an ADA covered disability is defined as a “physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of the individual”. See, 42 USCA §12102. Spectators with a “temporary” injury or impairment that is not an ADA disability will not be allowed use of a golf cart under this Policy.

PULL CARTS

Pull carts will be not be available onsite.

 

CADDIES

Host club caddies are not readily available for the championship. Contestants may provide their own caddie. 

 

PRIZES
A) Stroke Play – A crystal medallion will be awarded to the lowest qualifying scorer. The medalist’s name will also be engraved on the perpetual trophy. In the event of a tie for medalist honors, the outcome will be determined by a hole-by-hole playoff.

 

B) Match Play – Crystal prizes will be awarded to the champion, runner-up, semifinalists and quarterfinalists. The champion will have his name engraved on the Macan Cup Perpetual Trophy.

 

C) Hole-In-One and Eagle Awards – Awards will be given to any contestant who scores a hole-in-one

during either the stroke or match play portion of the championship. Awards for eagles will be presented to any contestant who scores an eagle during the 36-hole stroke play qualifying.

 

AWARDS CEREMONY

A brief awards presentation ceremony will take place immediately following the final match on Saturday, July 31 at approximately 4:30 p.m. 

 

EXEMPTIONS

The 2021 PNGA Men’s Amateur Champion will receive exemptions into all future PNGA Men’s Amateur Championships and the 2022 Pacific Coast Amateur Championship.

GHIN SCORE POSTING

The PNGA will post competition scores for all players to the USGA GHIN System. Scores will be submitted to BC Golf for posting in Canada.

 

STROKE LIMIT POLICY

Players must return a score within 12 strokes of the course rating in at least one of the two stroke play qualifying rounds. Failure to do so will disqualify the player from entering the PNGA Men’s Amateur Championship for a minimum of one year.

 

DRESS CODE

Players and caddies must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing while on host club property. The PNGA Dress Code Policy is available at the following link: thepnga.org/championship-home/championship-policies/ and will be provided to all players, along with any additional measures required by the host club, in the Player Memorandum.

 

CODE OF CONDUCT

The PNGA expects all contestants, caddies, gallery, and guests to exhibit proper conduct and behavior on the golf course and anywhere on club property during a PNGA championship. Unbecoming conduct or behavior may be grounds for immediate disqualification, at any time, from any PNGA event. The following are some examples of unbecoming conduct or behavior:

 

  • Repeated use of loud, abusive, and/or profane language
  • Throwing and/or breaking equipment (club, ball, etc.) in anger or frustration
  • Damaging host club, PNGA, and/or fellow contestant property
  • Public criticism or verbal abuse of host club, officials, volunteers or staff, and/or PNGA volunteers, staff or fellow contestants
  • Potential endangerment of others
  • Intentionally violating stated club policy
  • Violation of PNGA Dress Code and/or Footwear Policy
  • Other conduct deemed unbecoming

 

The Committee in charge of the competition shall be the sole judge of determining Conduct Code violations.

 

UNOFFICIAL WITHDRAWAL

After the entry deadline and during play of the championship, players must notify the PNGA and state his need to withdraw. Entrants who unofficially withdraw (by not notifying the PNGA or without having sufficient reason) will not be granted entry into any future PNGA Championship for a minimum of two years.

 

PACE OF PLAY POLICY

Players are encouraged to be familiar with the PNGA’s Stroke Play Pace of Play Policy and the PNGA’s Match Play Pace of Play Policy, which are in effect for this championship.

 

LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION
Players are encouraged to be familiar with the PNGA’s 2021 Local Rules and Terms of the Competition, which will be in effect at all championships.

 

PROHIBITED USE OF AUDIO EQUIPMENT

Rule 4.3 is modified in this way: During a round, a player is not allowed to use an electronic device to listen to music or other audio (such as podcasts or the like), including by using speakers, headphones or earbuds. Penalty for breach of Local Rule - see Rule 4.3.
