1. In the absence of mitigating circumstances, a group is liable to be timed if they are in excess of the time allowed and in the case of the second or subsequent groups, “out of position”.

 

2. Each hole has been given a maximum completion time based on the length, the difficulty and the ability of the field. The maximum time allowed for the completion of a round of 18 holes or less shall be made available to the player prior to play or posted on the Official Notice Board.

 

3. The first group or any group after the starters gap (if it is in place) shall be considered “out of position” if at any time during the round, the groups cumulative time exceeds the time allowed for the number of holes completed. Any following groups shall be “out of position” if they are more than the starting interval behind the group in front and have exceeded the time allowed for the number of holes played.

 

4. If a decision is taken to time the group each player in the group shall be subject to individual timing by a referee. Each player in the group shall be advised that they are “out of position” and are being timed.

 

5. The maximum time allowed for each shot is 40 seconds. An additional 10 seconds is allowed for the first player to play;

a. On a Par 3 Hole
b. An approach shot
c. A chip or putt

 

6. The timing shall start from the moment it is deemed by the Referee or Official that is the player’s turn to play.

 

7. The timing shall cease when the group is back in position and the player shall be advised accordingly.
Note: In some circumstances, an individual player; or two-player within a group of three or three players within a group of four may be timed instead of the entire group.

 

8. If a group is being timed more than once during a round, the above procedures shall apply. A bad time in a round shall be carried forward until the round is completed.

 

9. 1st Bad time: A player shall be warned by a Referee or Official that if he has a further bad time he shall be penalized.

 

10. 2nd Bad time: A player is penalized one stroke which shall apply to the hole in which the player had the 2nd Bad time.

 

11. 3rd Bad time: A player shall be penalized two-stroke which shall apply to the hole in which the player had the 3rd Bad time

 

12. 4th Bad time: The player shall be disqualified.
