Eligibility:  Open to any male amateur golfer who is a member of a WMGA Member Club, has a USGA handicap index of 5.0 or less at time of entry.  An entrant from a public facility or a verifiable eClub must reside within the WMGA territory: District of Columbia, the Maryland counties of Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Frederick, Howard, Montgomery, Prince Georges, St. Mary’s and Washington; the Virginia counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William and Stafford; and the independent cities within these Virginia counties.  Members of clubs that are not a WMGA member but are members of MSGA or VSGA clubs are eligible on a space available basis.

 

Entry Fee: $150.00 per player.  The Championship Committee will select a field of 120 players as well as a list of alternates.  Post entries accepted subject to the availability of spots.  Call 410-991-7843.

 

Entries open Monday, April 1 at 9:00 AM and close Tuesday, July 27 at 6:00 PM.  Refunds:  If a player withdraws by the closing date/time - refund is subject to a $25.00 admin fee.  If a player withdraws after that date and time, no refund will be given. 

 

Format: 18-hole Stroke Play qualifying round on Thursday, August 5 for 31 or 32 match play positions. Unless he chooses to play for the medal or does not defend, the defending champion is exempt from qualifying. There will be two scheduled 18-hole matches on each of Friday, August 6 and Saturday, August 7 and a 36-hole final match on Sunday, August 8.

 

Rules of Golf:  Play will be governed by the Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA and the R & A.   The competition is final when the trophy has been presented to the winner or, in the absence of a prize ceremony, when all scores have been approved by the Committee.

Prizes:  The champion and runner-up will receive a trophy. The Champion's name also will be inscribed on the De Sibour-Reyburn Cup, which was donated in 1914 by J.H. de Sibour and W.S. Reyburn, members of the Chevy Chase Club.  De Sibour was the architect of the original Chevy Chase clubhouse and Reyburn won the 1915 DC Amateur.  Gift certificates will be awarded to all players who make match play in addition to crystal prizes for the Champion, runner-up, semi-finalists, and qualifying low medalist.

 

Starting times will be e-mailed to all contestants and can be obtained via http://www.wmgagolf.org shortly after close of entries. 

 

Automotive Transportation is permitted.  Player is responsible for cart fee which is $30.00.

 

Practice rounds are available on Sunday, August 1 after 1:00 PM for $50.00 which includes cart fee and range balls.  Contact the pro shop at (301)249-0462 ​​to schedule.
