Entry & Eligibility Information


Entries Open: Tuesday, March 02, 2021 at 10:00 AM
Entries Close: Tuesday, June 08, 2021 at 01:00 PM

 

Entry Fee: $75; includes range balls and a MSGA logo hat.

Eligibility: This tournament is open to male amateurs who are residents of Maryland or are members of member clubs of the MSGA.  Each entrant must have reached 12 years of age by June 24 but not 19 years of age by June 25.  Each contestant must also have an up-to-date USGA index at a licensed club of 18.0 or lower.  The Handicap Index must be current on the date of the event and must be viewable on the verification site of www.msga.org.  Entries are subject to rejection by the MSGA at any time, including during the competition.  The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct, such as violation of host club policies, or failure to comply with the requirements of the handicap system.   

 

Refund Policy: A withdrawal prior to seven days of the event will receive a refund minus a $25.00 processing feeThere will not be a refund if a withdrawal is received less than seven days prior to the event without written medical excuse.

Championship Information


Format/Field Size:

12-13 Division:

Juniors in the 12-13 division will play 18 holes on the first day of the Championship.  Juniors in this age division will play approximately 800 yards shorter than the Championship Division.  If a junior wishes to play up a division please contact the MSGA Office.

 

14-15 & 16-18 Division (Championship Division)

The tournament will be 36 holes stroke play conducted as follows:  All competitors regardless of age will play the first 18 holes.  The low 24 scores and ties and those within 8 strokes of the leading score will play a second 18 holes the following day.  The Champion will be the low gross 36-hole score in the field.  Where applicable, the winner of each age category will be determined by the low gross 36-hole score. Otherwise, the age group winner will be the low 18-hole score.  In the event of a tie for the Championship or the winner of any age category, there will be a hole-by-hole play-off at the conclusion of play on the appropriate day.

 

Starting Times: Tournament Starting Times will be emailed approximately 10 days before the event. Times can also be found by visiting the 2021 Maryland State Junior Amateur Tournament Portal or www.msga.org.

 

Prizes: Appropriate prizes will be awarded to the winner of each age division and the overall champion.

Rules: The player is responsible for being familiar with Local Rules and Conditions of Competition for MSGA Championships, which appears on www.msga.org.
