MEN'S NIGHT 2021

Captain's Welcome

This is part of a story written by a gentleman when he was too old to play golf anymore. More so now than at any other time we should follow his good advice:

Play a game that you want to play. Play a game that gives you joy and satisfaction and makes you a better person to your family and friends. Play with enthusiasm, play with freedom. Appreciate the beauty of nature and the people around you. Realize how lucky you are to be able to do it. Play a game that enriches your life. All too soon your time will be up.

Best wishes... don't waste a minute of golf.

I am thrilled to announce that Dan Colagiacomo will be the Men's Night Vice-Captain this year.

If 2019 was one of the best Men's Night ever, then 2020 will go down as the most difficult. Unfortunately, we are looking to start 2021 the same way, or until we can safely return to shotguns and indoor banquets.

The 2021 official season will run from June 3rd to October 15.

Up until the Mid-Season Classic on July 22, it will be tee times only. We are hoping by then we can revert back to shotguns and banquets for the remainder of the season. The Men's Night Closing event is booked for Friday, October 15, if the restrictions have not been lifted we will play it with tee times the day before on Thursday, October 14.

Both courses will be blocked off for Men's Night members from 8.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. every Thursday, except 'Canada Day' which falls on a Thursday this year. The Men's Member Guest will be a one-day event played on a Friday, July 9, so we will not lose another Thursday.

For each Men's Night, we have a sponsor. The additional funds they provide make a huge difference to the quality of Men's Night. Please take time to review the services they offer in the newsletters.

In 2021 the Men's Night entrance fee will be $250.00 plus HST.

That sum will fund the following:

  • Mid-Season Classic prizing
  • Men's Night Closing prizing
  • Season-long prizing
  • Team Game prizing
  • A weekly drink ticket
  • We are adding back the Lucky Draw $500 and $250 cash each week
*** each week winners will be announced in the weekly newsletter.

NOTE: If held, the Mid-Season Classic and Men's Night Closing banquets will be an addition and charged separately to those attendees only.

There are club restrictions in place now on how many times social members and guests can play at RattleSnake in 2021. This applies also to Men's Night. In addition, they cannot participate in the Mid-Season Classic and Men's Night Closing events.

Lorelle Weavers is the RattleSnake Point Professional who will coordinate our activities. Lorelle can be reached by email at lweavers@clublink.ca or by calling the Golf Shop at (905) 878-6222.

The $25 weekly fee is intended for new players or very occasional players of Men’s Night and is limited to four per season.  The fee includes a drink ticket, however, the lucky draw and any prizes are for players who have paid for the full season.

Players are encouraged to play from the tee deck that best suits their game.  White, Blue/White or Blue...it’s your call. When you register please indicate your choice.

RattleSnake Cup Team Championship

Again 25+ teams of 8 players, best four scores from each team count every week. The cut will be made after Thursday, September 9, then the top 16 teams enter a weekly knock-out round with the winner decided on October 7. This one is worth winning! More to come about the sign-up.

As in previous years, one person in the foursome is responsible for entering scores using Golf Genius. It is important to check your score, the best practice for this is to have a paper scorecard to attest the scores entered into Golf Genius.  Golf Genius is great for live scoring and helps the results to be announced quicker.

Golf Genius will make the handicap adjustment and will post all Men's Night scores to Golf Canada.

Scoring for Men's Night play is simple.  Count all your strokes and record them to your handicap maximum.

Drop areas are not in play, and please putt everything out.

Finally, hat's off to the few that left everyone in the sand last season,

Gross Champion - Barry Hillcoat

Net Champion - Paul Mann
RattleSnake Cup - Team Python

Myself and Dan can be reached at rattlesnakemensnight@gmail.com. Let us know how we can make Men's Night even better.

I look forward to meeting you all.
