Player Information: 86th Senior Amateur Championship

October 9-10, 2017 - Allegheny Country Club in Sewickley, PA

 

The competition is 36 holes and the field is 44 players in the Senior Amateur Championship and 22 players in the Super-Senior Amateur Championship. Groupings and tee times can be found at wpga.org.  Additional information will be distributed on the starting tees.  The entry fee includes practice range fee, locker fee, coffee, juices, lunch, trophies to the winners as well as merchandise prizes.

 

Groups will be repaired for round two based on results from round one.  Starting times for Tuesday will be emailed to players after the conclusion of round one.

 

Format—36 holes of stroke play. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie for first place, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee.

 

Tee Markers Play for the Senior Amateur is from the BLUE WPGA tee markers (Approximately 6,350 Yards).  Play for Super-Senior Amateur is from the WHITE WPGA tee markers (Approximately 6,150 Yards).

 

Practice— Practice round times can be scheduled by contacting the golf shop at (412) 749-2705.  Practice round fees are the responsibility of the player, must be pre-arranged, and are at the discretion of the club. The Golf Professional is John Aber. Practice rounds will be at a cost of the prevailing cart fee of $32 + applicable taxes.

 

Transportation/Caddies— Automotive transportation is permitted for the championship. Players may bring their own caddies if they choose. Allegheny does have caddies available.  If you wish to employ a club caddie, arrangements must be made in advance by contacting the golf shop.  Cart fees are included in the entry fee and no refunds are issued to players who choose to walk.  Caddie expenses are the responsibility of the player.

 

Food—The WPGA provides coffee, juices, and lunch for players only. Caddies and spectators may purchase lunch at their own expense.  All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.

 

Footwear—METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED--PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.

 

Lodging—Lodging of various price ranges can be found in the Neville Island and Moon Township areas.
 

Pace of Play—The maximum allowable time will be four hours and fifteen minutes (4:15). The Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE.

 

Evacuation Plan—In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation all players should return to the clubhouse. Note: A suspension for a dangerous situation will be signaled by one prolonged air horn note. All other types of suspension will be signaled by three consecutive air horn notes, repeated. Resumption of play will be signaled by two short air horn notes, repeated.

 

Spectator Info—No spectator carts will be permitted for the competition without pre-approved ADA verification. Please contact the WPGA office for ADA guidelines. ADA carts are based on availability.

 

The winner of the Senior Championship receives an exemption to the 2018 Amateur Championship.
