Thank you for registering for the 2021 Inaugural Advocates Classic, a tournament held at the beautiful Oaktree Golf & Country Club in Edmond, Oklahoma on May 17, 2021, hosted by Advocates for Africa, a non-profit whose sole purpose is to bring hope, compassion, and restoration to the people of Africa. We are so excited to host this event and know that your registration goes towards a GREAT cause. Every single dollar will benefit our Advocates Christian Academy, a school located in the heart of one of the poorest areas of Rwanda, Africa.

The Cause

 

 

Imagine your children never receiving an education. This is the reality for millions of parents in Africa. Widespread poverty in rural areas has made it impossible for some children to attend school. Worse yet, is that without an education the next generation is likely going to remain in that poverty. That’s why we’re raising funds to build the Advocates Christian Academy. This school will be planted in a rural area where access to a good education is not present. Focusing on leadership from the earliest levels will help to build a solid future for the students and for the region as a whole. This land will also hold a medical and dental facility, missionary team housing, and teacher apartments. And you can be part of this cause!

The Course

 

The East Course at Oak Tree Country Club is the championship test, far more exacting in its demands than the roomier West Course. The watery final stretch - the half-dozen holes heading toward the clubhouse - showcases the ferocity of the course. The East Course continues to serve as host venue for the highly-regarded Oklahoma Open, traditionally one of the most sought-after state titles in the land. Stalwarts like Bob Tway, Gil Morgan, David Edwards, Todd Hamilton and Lucas Glover are among the champions who have been crowned. The East Course is a tough slog from the outset. Forget the tips at nearly 7,100 yards; even from the 6,400-yard middle markers, the half-dozen front-side par-4s average 410 yards. It's a bunker-strewn landscape, humps and hollows wreaking havoc with shots drifting from the short grass. It's a stiff enough challenge, but merely a preamble to the watery finish. Four of the final six, including a pair of distinctive par-3s are completely menaced by water1. The East Course's signature hole is #16, a 455-yard, par-4, with a water hazard down the entire left side of the fairway and requiring an approach shot to a deep green.  The golf course plays to a par of 70, with a slope of 143 and course rating of 77.1 from the championship tees.
