Cost:  $120.00 Professionals.  $90.00 Amateurs.  (includes cart & range balls)

 

Eligibility:  Open to both Amateurs and  Professionals  Field will be limited to the first 120 players, determined by the date of entry.  Amateurs must have a valid WHS handicap.

 

Purse:  $7000.00 based on 90 entries.  1st Place is $1500.00 cash if a professional wins, low amateur is guaranteed $500.00 gift certificate.

 

Tournament Format:  18 holes stroke play. There will be a sudden death play off in case of a tie for 1st.  

 

Dress Code:   Please conform to proper attire.  Those players not in compliance will not be allowed to play in the tournament.  SOFT SPIKES REQUIRED!

 

The tournament was started by Neil McGeehan, then owner and PGA Golf Professional of Yorktowne Golf Club in the 1950's. The tournament ran from 1957 to 1967, then off and on through 1997. The York County Amateur Golf Association is  reinstated this tournament in 2011.   The event is open to both professionals and amateurs. It has the distinction of having some of the finest players in the world as past champions. In 1962 Art Wall who won the 1959 Masters was one of the winners, along with Skee Reigal former U.S. Amateur Champion in 1947 and 2nd to Ben Hogan in the 1952 Masters also won the York Open in 1967.
