A 36 hole event of individual stroke play shall be played in handicap groups over two (2) consecutive days (18 holes per day)


Entrants must hold a current Golf Australia handicap and must be a financial member of a Veteran Golf Club, District or Association affiliated with the AVGU and must have played in at least three veteran competitions in the six months prior to the Championship. Strict adherence to this rule will apply.


The closing date for nominations will be Friday 23rd April 2021. If nominations are over the limit of 224, players will be balloted out by the highest handicap.


A standby list will be created if the field is oversubscribed. A shotgun draw will be conducted with players alternating between morning and afternoon fields. The draw will be completed immediately following the close of nominations and will be posted to the QVGU website (  and on the Tropics Golf Club web site on Wednesday 28th April. No refunds will be issued after the closing date, except in exceptional circumstances.


With the exception of the State Champion Trophy, the R K Spry Trophy, and nearest-the-pin shots, players may receive only one trophy over the two days.


Handicaps must be verified and proof of veteran membership (QVGU Membership Card) must be produced at registration.

Players should register each day 30 minutes prior to the shotgun start. All players are expected to maintain their place in the field, slow play may incur a two (2) stroke penalty.


 In the event of a tie for the 36 hole gross event, the Championship will be decided by a playoff over such hole/holes as designated by the Tournament Director. If a playoff is not possible the state champion will be decided by a countback.  All other winners will be decided by countback.


The Rules of Golf shall apply and be read in conjunction with any local rules applicable at the time and any special rules invoked by the Queensland Veteran Golf Union Inc., the Tournament Director, or the Match Committee of the Tropics Veterans Golf Club Inc

Tropics Golf Club dress standards will apply.



Nominations of pairs will be accepted, no arranged 4’s.
