OAKS MASTERS LEAGUE BY-LAWS

MISSION STATEMENT

The Oaks Masters League is comprised of golfers of all levels.  Our purpose is to bring together like minded golfers for the experience of some fairly competitive golf. We play nine hole rounds of golf on tuesdays 4:30pm shotgun start.  Our format is 2 Person Team Match Play with handicaps.  We flight our teams based on team total handicaps ranging for lowest to highest handicaps.

TEAM/LEAGUE STRUCTURE

  • 2 Person Teams
    • Low Handicap is the A Player
    • High Handicap is the B Player
  • Sign up as a team or as a single and we will do our best pair you up
    • If The Oaks is unable to pair up singles, they will be added to the substitute list

The league will be divided into flights ranging from lowest team handicaps to highest team handicaps as stated above. Competition during the season will match teams within their flights. In the event a team loses a member during the season the remaining member may choose a replacement or the Oaks Management may assign a replacement if one is available. The replacement player’s handicap will not affect which flight the team is positioned in.

SCORING FORMAT

Within each match there will be three possible points earned each round.

  • 1 Point for A vs. A Match
  • 1 Point for B vs. B Match
  • 1 Point for Team vs. Team Match

The scorecards each week will reflect the handicaps of each player. The strokes during the match will be designated by dots.  A RED dot will represent the individual matches between players A & B players. A BLACK dot will represent the team match.

RULES OF PLAY

Teeing ground: Men play from the White Tees.  Women play from the Green Tees. Men 70 and over may play the Green Tees if they wish. Once a tee box is chosen by the player, they must play the same set of tees throughout the league season.

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf.

Preferred lies, up to 12” no nearer the hole, are permitted in the fairway of the hole being played.

THE OAKS MANAGEMENT HAS THE OPTION TO INVOKE A LOCAL RULE AT THEIR DISCRETION.

Disputes arising on the course should be resolved before teeing off on the next hole whenever possible.  If necessary, a second ball could be played and both scores recorded until an official ruling can be made.

PRIZES

During the playing season there are prizes awarded for closest to the pin on all par 3’s.  Each week the winners will receive a $10 pro shop credit.  The spring and summer seasons will be comprised of 8 weeks. The first place team will be the team with the most points earned during the season. Prizes will be awarded to the first place team. In the event of a tie a one shot per team member closest to the pin on a hole determined by the commissioner will win first place.

Best Ball Weekly Payout: We will be paying out in shop credit the 1st Place Team Gross & Net Best Ball weekly for each division.  $10 Per Team is the payout.

SUBSTITUTES

Substitutes are welcome to play in your absence. If you choose a sub not known to the league the commission needs a USGA handicap card whenever possible.  If that is not possible, then an accurate representation of this persons playing ability is necessary.

The player who is going to be absent or his teammate is responsible for finding a sub. If unable to find a sub that player will forfeit their head to head match point.  If both players are absent and unable to find subs they will forfeit all 3 points.

If any other above applies please find the league commissioner ASAP so the necessary scorecard adjustments can be made before tee off.

INCLIMATE WEATHER / WEATHER DELAYS

As always we play rain or shine unless The Oaks deems the course unplayable or unsafe to continue the match.  If called off the course (horn sounds) all players must return to the starting area ASAP.  Oaks Staff will then determine if or when play will resume. All players must wait 15 minutes before leaving or they will forfeit their match. If both teams leave before the 15 minutes no points will be awarded.
