The County Championship is a stroke play/match play competition, which includes a net prize (Over1st 36 holes).

 

THE GEORGE RENWICK MEMORIAL MEDAL to be held for one year will be awarded to the leading qualifier with the best scratch score over 36 holes on the 19th June 2021, who takes part in the match play stages of the County Championship

 

Qualifying consists of 36 holes stroke play on Saturday 19 June. The leading 16 qualifiers progress to the match play stages of the championship. In the event of a tie for the last qualifying place, it shall be decided hole by hole match play “sudden death” over the 1st and 18th holes. 

 

A draw will be made for the matchplay stages and players will be seeded according to their stroke play finishing place i.e. 1 v 16, 2 v 15 etc. and the match play stages will take place over 18 holes on the evenings of June 23rd, 24th and 25th.

The 36-hole final will be played in the morning and afternoon of Saturday, June 26th.In the event of a tie in any of the match play rounds, the competitors shall play hole by hole over the 1st and 18th until a decision is reached.

 

 

After being confirmed into the event, competitors will by courtesy of Whitley Bay Golf Club be allowed one free practice round. Please phone the Club on 0191-2520180. Times must be booked in advance in order that the course is available to you.
