Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf and its Decisions and, where applicable, by the following Local Rules, Conditions, and Definitions, subject to changes or amendments by the tournament committee. Appendix I refers to the Appendix of Local Rules and Conditions of the Competition.
Pull/Push Carts: Pull/Push carts are allowed for use unless prohibited by the golf course. Some courses may have pull/push carts available to rent. Please note: Golf carts are reserved for rules officials, tournament directors, and volunteers. However, there may be a limited number of carts available for spectators at all events, subject to the discretion of the course.
• Spectators renting carts must stay on the path at all times (or in the rough if no path exist at the course) and remain behind the players being watched yet not hold up the playing group behind them.
• Spectators are not allowed to go forward and disrupt players in the group ahead.
• Spectators are not allowed to give players ANY advice during the round.
• Spectators are not permitted to walk in the fairway or on the greens.
All golf carts must be operated according to the manufacturer’s guidelines. Riding anywhere other than the seat of the cart is strictly prohibited. Anyone that chooses to rent a golf cart does so at his or her own risk.
Caddies: Caddies allowed for all age groups except the 15-18 age group (One caddy per player). All caddies must walk and all players must walk and may not be shuttled at any time unless specified by the Tournament Committee.
Electronic Devices: Cell phones and Distance Measuring Devices, (DMD) are permitted in accordance with Decision 14-3/0.5 as long as they are used to measure or gauge distance only (ie. no slope). Penalty for breach of rule: score of 10 on any hole used.
Pace of Play: Each player must play without undue delay, which is defined as taking no more than one minute to play a shot. Players should be ready to play their shot as soon as it is their turn (for example, without interrupting other players, determine yardage, mark and clean ball on greens, pre-read the green, shot strategy, club selection, etc.). Each group is responsible for monitoring their own pace. To avoid a penalty, groups must complete their round within (a) their allotted time, or (b) within fifteen (15) minutes of the group ahead of them. Additionally, the Tournament Committee is not obligated to give warnings and may, at its sole discretion, assess any of the following:
-First offense-warning
-Second offense-one stroke penalty
-Third offense- two stroke penalty
-Fourth offense-Disqualification
If your group falls behind, your group is to play "ready golf" until you catch the group in front of you. To assist with pace of play for this event, we are playing threesomes in 10 minute intervals and marshals will be present on-course to implement the pace of play rules.
Live Scoring/Scoring: All players are to keep their score and the score of everyone in their group. After each hole, players will announce their score. All players must agree before teeing off on the next hole. At least one player in the group MUST record the groups score using the Golf Genius App (GGID code will be provided on the scorecard and by the starter). At the end of the round, all players in each group must go directly to the scoring area. Each player will announce their hole by hole scores as the other competitors in the group verify for a second time. Once all players agree that all scores are correct, one official scorecard will be turned in to and posted. Top 15 players in their age division will earn points for their team/region.
Playoffs: Weather and course permitting and at the sole discretion of the Tournament Committee, ties for 1st place will be broken with a sudden death playoff. If weather, course, or darkness prevents completion of a sudden-death playoff for first place, the winner will be decided by a scorecard playoff and will be determined starting with the #1 handicap hole as stated on the tournament scorecard; tie breakers for all other positions will be determined solely via scorecard playoff. If an event is shortened due to inclement weather, the Tournament Committee will announce the alternative plan for scoring/determination of a winner and order.
INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY:
If the course is open; we play. If there is lightning within 8 miles, the horn will sound and we will pull players off the course until it is safe to return. If the horn sounds, please mark your ball and head to the Garden Gallery Room at Shades of Green immediately. The players furthest away from the clubhouse will be shuttled back first. We must wait 30 minutes with no lightning strikes within 8 miles to return to play. If it’s not safe to return after 60 minutes, we will re-evaluate. If play cannot resume, we will use all holes that EVERY player in each age group has completed for scoring during that round.
Disqualification Policy: A player may be disqualified for arriving late to the tee time, for code of conduct violations such as throwing clubs, rudeness to other players, unauthorized use of electronic devices, or as otherwise provided under the Rules of Golf.
Local Rules: Local Rules in play will be announced by the starter and printed on the scorecard.
The Tournament Committee reserves the right, in their sole and absolute discretion, to revise, implement, and redact rules as well as dismiss any player or spectator at any time and for any reason during any event.
