59th Western Pennsylvania Boys Championship

Please see information related to the 59th Western Pennsylvania Boys Championship on Monday, June 25 at Lindenwood Golf Club in Canonsburg, PA. 

 

The competition is 18 holes for contestants ages 11-15 and 9 holes for contestants ages 8-10. Additional information will be distributed after the close of entries and on the starting tee. The practice facility will open at 7:00 AM the day of the championship.

 

Winner of Potts Division (Ages 14 & 15) receives invitation to C.R. Miller Memorial Junior Match Play Invitational.

 

Note to Parents & Guardians: A parent, stepparent or guardian may not serve as a caddie. Spectator carts are not permitted for use during the competition. Lunch is provided and paid for the competitors and their caddies. Parents and/or spectators who wish to eat lunch with the players should be prepared to order off the club menu and pay by cash or credit card.

 

Format: 18 Holes of Stroke Play. In the event of a tie, a hole by hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee in each division.

 

Tee Markers

Age 14 & 15 Age Division – (Approximate Yardage 6,200)

Age 11-13 Age Division – (Approximate Yardage 5,850)
Age 8-10 Age Division – (Approximate Yardage for the 9 holes 2,480)

 

Practice: Practice rounds are available by contacting the golf shop at 724-745-9889. The Golf Professional is Dave McGinnis. Practice rounds should be pre-arranged and are at the discretion of the golf shop. Practice round fees are at the expense of the player.
 

Transportation/Caddies: Players and caddies are required to walk for the championship. Players may bring their own caddies if they choose. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties. A parent, stepparent, or guardian may not serve as a caddie.
 

Pace of Play: The maximum allowable time will be four hours and fifteen minutes (4:15).

 

Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf.

 

Evacuation Plan: In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation, all players should seek the nearest shelter or building until the Committee can transport the players to the clubhouse.

 

Footwear: Metal cleats are prohibited. The penalty is disqualification.

 

Food: The WPGA provides lunch for players and caddies only. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player. Lunch will be available by cash or credit card for those accompanying the players and caddies.

 

Lodging: Lodging of various price ranges can be found in the Southpointe area.
