Championship conducted to determine the top male Senior player in Louisiana for 2018. Entrants must be 50 years of age by midnight, May 17, 2018.

 

Entry Fee, Withdrawal/Refunds: Entry fee of $200 ($175 for those competing in the Super Senior Championship), which includes cart fee for practice round and tournament play. Entry fee will be refunded regardless of reason if LGA office is notified, in writing, before the close of entries (May 8, 2018). After the close of entries, fee will be refunded only in the event of injury or illness provided notification (accompanied by a doctor's statement) reaches LGA office by May 16, 2018. A $40 service charge will be deducted from all refunds. Pairings and starting times will be emailed to each accepted entry on or about May 11, 2018.

 

Entry Deadline: 5 PM May 8, 2018

Limited to the first 156 entries. Overall Championship will be conducted over 54 holes. In addition to the Overall Championship, there is a Super Senior division for those participants who are 65 years of age and older. Super Seniors will play from a forward set of tees and compete only in the Super Senior division.  Any Senior over 65 may elect to play in the Overall competition but, in doing so, is precluded from participation in the Super Seniors division.  For the Senior Amateur, the Super Senior division is a 36 hole event with the entry fee discounted by $25 from the Overall entry fee.

Eligibility: Entries are open to any Louisiana resident (as of at least 90 days prior to the Championship) who is an amateur golfer (as defined by the USGA) holding membership in a LGA member club in good standing (2018 club and individual dues must be paid). Entrants must be 50 years of age by midnight, May 17, 2018, and possess a certified USGA Handicap Index of 15.0 or less. See above for Super Senior Championship. Non-amateurs are not eligible. Entries are subject to rejection at any time (including during the Championship) by the LGA. Reasons for rejection may include unbecoming conduct.

 

Dress Code, Cell Phones: Competitors must be neat in appearance and wear appropriate attire. No gym shorts, cutoffs, blue jeans, tee shirts, etc. Shorts must be Bermuda length. Use of cell phones, including those used as Electronic Measuring Devices, is prohibited on the course during the competition (The Committee reserves the right to disqualify a competitor for a breach of the policy regarding cell phone usage; See USGA Rules of Golf Decision 33-7/8). Important Note:  Oakwing CC is a spikeless facility and all competitors will be required to wear spikeless shoes.

 

Field/Format: Limited to the first 156 entries. All competitors will play 36 holes (May 17-18) with the Overall Championship field cut to the 60 lowest scorers and ties for final 18 holes (third round/ May 19). Super Senior Championship is 36 holes.

Practice Privileges: Practice privileges are extended to participants in the Championship at Oakwing Country Club on May 16. Cart fee paid by LGA. Practice rounds may be scheduled on or after May 2. 

Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the top five finishers in the Overall Championship and the top three finishers in the Super Senior Championship.  

WAGR: As part of their expanding relationship to govern the game globally, the USGA partners with the R&A in compiling and publishing the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR). This LGA Championship is a WAGR counting event, and the results will be sent to the R&A in St Andrews, Scotland. A primary purpose of the WAGR is to provide exemptions into USGA and R&A amateur championships for top ranked amateur golfers. The rankings are updated every Wednesday at 12:00 noon, Greenwich Mean Time. Additional information about the WAGR and the current rankings may be found at

Rules of Golf: Play will be governed by the current Rules of Golf and LGA Rules of Play Card. All questions will be settled by the LGA Rules Committee, whose decision will be final.
