Entry Fee: $75; includes range balls and a MSGA logo hat.

Eligibility: This tournament is open to male amateurs who are residents of Maryland or are members of MSGA member clubs.  Each entrant must have reached 12 years of age by June 20 but not 19 years of age by June 21.  Each contestant must also have an up-to-date USGA index at a licensed club of 18.0 or lower.  The Handicap Index must be current on the date of the event and must be viewable on GHIN.com. 

 

Entries are subject to rejection by the MSGA at any time, including during the competition.  The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct, such as violation of host club policies, or failure to comply with the requirements of the handicap system.   

 

Refund Policy: A withdrawal prior to seven (7) days of the event will receive a refund minus a $25 processing fee. Medical refunds - There will not be a refund if a withdrawal is received less than seven days prior to the event without written medical excuse. Medical refunds will also be subject to a $25 processing fee.

Championship Information


Format/Field Size:

12-13 Division:

Juniors in the 12-13 division will play 18 holes on the first day of the Championship. Juniors in this age division will play approximately 800 yards shorter than the Championship Division.  If a junior wishes to play up a division please contact the MSGA Office.

 

14-15 & 16-18 Division (Championship Division)

The tournament will be 36 holes stroke play conducted as follows:  All competitors regardless of age will play the first 18 holes.  The low 24 scores and ties and those within 8 strokes of the leading score will play a second 18 holes the following day.  The Champion will be the low gross 36-hole score in the field.  Where applicable, the winner of each age category will be determined by the low gross 36-hole score. Otherwise, the age group winner will be the low 18-hole score.  In the event of a tie for the Championship or the winner of any age category, there will be a hole-by-hole play-off at the conclusion of play on the appropriate day.

 

Starting Times: Tournament Starting Times will be emailed approximately one week (7 days) before the event. Times can also be found by visiting the 98th Maryland Junior Championship Tournament Portal or www.msga.org.

 

Caddies: Caddies are not permitted at this Championship. All players will have to walk. Players can either carry or use a push cart. 

 

Specator Carts: Spectator Carts will not be permitted during this championship with the exception of a spectator who can provide an issued and active Handicap Permit.  

 

Practice Rounds: Additional information regarding practice rounds will be updated in the coming weeks. 

 

Tournament Yardage: The official tournament yardage will be updated several days before the event. 

Estimated 14-18 Divisions: 6,711 yards (Black/Blue Combo)

Estimated 12-13 Division: 5,915 yards (Burgundy)

Withdrawals/No Shows: Players who Withdraw or No Show during an event without a justified reason (injury, illness, family emergency, etc.) may not be allowed to participate in future MSGA events.  

 

Posting: The MSGA will post scores to GHIN as a tournament score. 

 

Prizes: Appropriate prizes will be awarded to the winner of each age division and the overall champion.

Rules: USGA Rules govern all play. The player is responsible for being familiar with Local Rules and Conditions of Competition for MSGA Championships.
