Entry Fee: $160 Championship Division/$75 Net Division; includes carts and range balls.
Eligibility: This tournament is open to male amateur members of MSGA Member Clubs who have reached their 25th birthdays by midnight of August 1 and have an up-to-date USGA Index at a licensed club of 7.1 or less. The handicap index must be at the member club shown on the entry form, must be current on the date of the event, and must be viewable on GHIN.com.
Entries are subject to rejection by the MSGA at any time, including during the competition. The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct, such as violation of host club policies, or failure to comply with the requirements of the handicap system.
Refund Policy: A withdrawal prior to seven (7) days of the event will receive a refund minus a $25 processing fee. There will not be a refund if a withdrawal is received less than seven days prior to the event without written medical excuse. Medical refunds will also be subject to a $25 processing fee.
Championship Information
Format/Field Size: The Championship Division will be 36 holes stroke play, with the field reduced to the low 40 scores and ties after the First Round. The championship index limit is 7.1. The Champion will be the low gross 36 hole score in the field.
The Net Division will be 18 holes stroke play conducted over a shorter course, approximately 500 yards shorter, with an index limit of 12.0. The date of the Handicap Index to be used for the tournament will be July 24. All Handicap Indexes will be adjusted according to the slope rating of the course being played. Each entrant must select EITHER the Championship Division or the Net Division.
Carts: Automotive transportation is permitted for players and caddies. The cart fee is included in the entry. **New for 2022 - A player and his caddie may ride in a golf cart duing a round, but both may not ride at the same time. For pull cart policy at qualifying site, please contact the host club. Spectator Carts will not be permitted during this championship with the exception of a spectator who can provide an issued and active Handicap Permit.
Starting Times: Tournament Starting Times will be emailed approximately seven (7) days before the event. Times can also be found by visiting the 37th Maryland Mid-Amateur Championship Tournament Portal or www.msga.org.
Practice Rounds: Additional information regarding practice rounds will be updated in the coming weeks.
Tournament Yardage: The official tournament yardage will be updated several days before the event.
Estimated Championship Division Yardage: 6,291 (Black Tees)
Estimated Net Division Yardage: 6,077 (Blue Tees)
Withdrawals/No Shows: Players who Withdraw or No Show during an event without a justified reason (injury, illness, family emergency, etc.) may not be allowed to participate in future MSGA events.
Posting: The MSGA will post amateur's scores to GHIN as a tournament score.
Prizes: The Champion in the Championship Division will receive a trophy and additional appropriate prizes will also be awarded. In the event of a tie for the Championship, a hole-by-hole play-off will follow immediately upon the completion of play. In the event of a tie for the low score in the Net Division, the tie will be resolved by a match of cards according to the USGA recommended method. Additional appropriate prizes will also be awarded in the Net Division.
Rules: USGA Rules govern all play. The player is responsible for being familiar with Local Rules and Conditions of Competition for MSGA Championships.
