Amateur Entry Fee: $170/player

MAPGA Member Entry Fees: $250/player

Non-MAPGA Professional Entry Fees: $500/player

**All entry fees include cart and range balls for both days.**


Amateur Eligibility: This tournament is open to male amateur members of MSGA Member Clubs with up-to-date USGA Indexes at licensed clubs of 8.4 or less as of September 30. The handicap index must be at the member club shown on the entry form and current before and after the close of registration and the date of the event. The handicap must also be viewable on GHIN.com.

 

Professional Eligibility: This tournament is open to male professionals who are: Middle Atlantic PGA members or registered apprentices; professionals employed by member clubs; or residents of Maryland. 

 

Additional Eligibility: All players must have reached their 50th birthdays by midnight of October 12. Super Seniors must have reached their 60th birthdays by midnight of October 11. 

 

Entries may be rejected by the MSGA at any time, including during the competition.  Reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct, such as violation of host club policies, or failure to comply with the requirements of the handicap system.  Entrants may be required to provide evidence of playing ability.

 

Refund Policy: A withdrawal prior to seven days of the event will receive a refund minus a $25.00 processing feeThere will not be a refund if a withdrawal is received less than seven days prior to the event without written medical excuse. Medical refunds will also be subject to a $25 processing fee. 

 

Starting Times: Tournament Starting Times will be emailed approximately 7 days before the event. Times can also be found by visiting the 23rd Maryland Senior Open Tournament Portal or www.msga.org. 

Championship Information

 

Format/Field Size: The competition will be 36 holes stroke play with Senior (50 and over) and Super Senior (60 and over) age categories. 

 

Carts: Automotive transportation is permitted for players and caddies. Cart fees will be paid directly to the host facility and are not included in the entry fee. **New for 2022 - A player and his caddie may ride in a golf card during a round, but both may not ride at the same time. Spectator Carts will not be permitted during this championship with the exception of a spectator who can provide an issued and active Handicap Permit. 

 

Practice Rounds: Practice rounds can be arranged by calling the Turf Valley Golf Shop at (410) 465-1504. Practice rounds will be booked based on availability and players are only permitted one practice round. 

 

Tournament Yardages: The official tournament yardage will be updated several days before the event.

Withdrawals/No Shows: Players who Withdraw or No Show during an event without a good reason may not be allowed to participate in future MSGA events.

Prizes: The Maryland State Golf Association will award a total of approximately $13,000.00 in prize money to the low scoring professionals in the Senior and Super Senior categories.  Appropriate prizes will also be awarded to the low scoring amateurs in each category.  In the event of a tie for the Championship, for low score in the Super Senior category, or for the low amateur in either category, a hole-by-hole play-off will follow immediately upon the conclusion of play. No player may win more than one cash or merchandise certificate prize.     


Rules:  USGA Rules govern all play. The player is responsible for being familiar with Local Rules and Conditions of Competition for MSGA Championships, which appears on www.msga.org.

 

Posting: The MSGA will post amateur's scores to GHIN as a tournament score.
