2018 AGA Championship

The AGA Championship is the new tournament title of what was formerly known as the "Arizona Publinks Championship". Following in the USGA's footsteps, which did away with the US Amateur Public Links after 2014, the AGA welcomes all residents of Arizona, with or without an AGA membership, along with members of the Southern Nevada Golf Association, to compete in this AGA Tour Championship event. Non-AGA members can register by emailing Tournament Manager Mike Mason at: mmason@azgolf.org

In 2017, Trevor Werbylo shot 67 - 68 - 71 -206 to capturpe the first-ever AGA Championship.

 

HOST SITE: Randolph Golf Complex, 600 S Alvernon Way, Tucson, AZ 85711

DATES: April 6-8, 2018 (Friday – Sunday)

GOLF CART USE: Participant’s use of golf carts will be allowed during competition.
NOTE: Tournament Entry Fee DOES NOT include the cost of renting a cart. If participants would like to rent a cart for the event, they may make arrangements at Randolph North on the morning of the event. Click here for the complete guidelines of AGA’s golf cart policy.

CADDIES: Caddies are permitted for the Championship. They must walk at all times unless there is an available seat in one of the players carts. Caddies riding in a cart MUST NOT displace a player.
In addition, the following policies will be enforced:

  1. Spectator carts are not permitted for insurance reasons, NO EXCEPTIONS.
  2. Pull carts are permitted as long as not in conflict with the Host Club rules.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to any Arizona resident. No membership to the Arizona Golf Association required. Members of the Southern Nevada Golf Association may participate in the AGA Championship without restriction. No handicap index requirements.

PRACTICE ROUNDS: Practice rounds will begin starting March 26, 2018 at a rate of $35 + tax

FORMAT: 54-holes of individual stroke play with max field size of 132 players. The tournament field will be cut to the low 60 players and ties for the final round on Sunday, March 12. Starting tee times are subject to change with final participant numbers. Players may elect to compete in the Gross or Net Division (different yardages & prizes), please sign up for the interested Division when registering.

TPA TEE TIMES: First & Second Rounds: 9 - 11 a.m. These time blocks are subject to change prior to release of Rd. 1 pairings.

PAIRINGS: Official tournament pairings will be available by end of day on Tuesday, April 3. Pairings will be posted on the tournament website and players will receive an email once pairings are available.

DRIVING RANGE: Practice balls will be available on the range prior to play on: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Randolph Golf Complex. The Driving Range is lighted.

PAYOUTS: Payouts in the form of merchandise gift cards will be given to top finishers in both the Gross and Net Divisions. Specific payout amounts will be posted prior to final-round scoring. A separate Senior (50+ years old) Trophy will be given out for lowest 54-hole score of a Senior competitor.

GOLF CART USE: Players may walk or ride.
In addition, the following policies will be enforced:

  1. Spectator carts are not permitted for insurance reasons, NO EXCEPTIONS.
  2. Carts are assigned only to contestants. A caddie may use a cart only if a contestant is not displaced by such use.
  3. Restrictions on cart use for players are at the discretion of the Host Site, and all players are bound by those requirements, subject to withdrawal for violations of that policy. Any such restrictions will be posted at the tournament site.
  4. Two persons per cart only.
  5. Carts must be kept on paths if available near greens and tees.
  6. Any non-player riding with a player is considered a caddie and subject to any potential rules violations.
  7. Pull carts are permitted as long as not in conflict with the Host Club rules.

WITHDRAW POLICY: Prior to the Entry Deadline, players may withdraw from a tournament and receive a full refund by completing the withdraw process on the tournament website, calling the AGA office (602) 944-3035 during normal business hours or calling the Withdraw Line at (602) 944-3035 ext. 210 and leaving a message.

After the Entry Deadline has passed, any withdraw will be considered a “late withdraw”. Tournament entry fees will only be returned if the player’s position in the field is filled by an alternate. In any case, a $30 administrative fee will be deducted from any tournament entry fee refund, regardless of the reason for withdrawing.
