2018 SCGA STABLEFORD TEAM NET CHAMPIONSHIP
LA QUINTA RESORT & CLUB (DUNES COURSE)
TUESDAY - WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11-12
REGISTRATION:
Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. Golf carts are included in the championship and will be staged with each player’s name on the cart sign.
STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS:
Starting holes and pairings will be e-mailed to players and posted online at scga.org/netstableford one week in advance of the championship. The Championship will be an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Second round pairings will be based on the first-round results. Second round pairings will be released after the conclusion of play on Tuesday.
Players are encouraged to arrive at their assigned tee well in advance of their starting time, as the SCGA starter will have information to discuss and distribute to each player in the group. Furthermore, players arriving late will be penalized under Rule 6-3a of the Rules of Golf. For example, the 9:00 a.m. starting time is defined as 9:00:00, and players arriving after that time are considered late. Lead groups should plan to be at their assigned tee 10 minutes in advance of their starting time. Subsequent groups are encouraged to arrive in time to watch the group in front of them tee off.
PRACTICE ROUNDS:
Players may make arrangements for practice rounds at their own expense by booking online at laquintaresort.com; then click on “Golf” to book discounted tee times using the promo code “SCGA2018”. Participants will receive 20% off the lowest rates available on the Dunes Course. Practice rounds are available Monday, December 3 – Monday, December 10.
FORMAT:
The Championship is a 36-hole Team Net Stableford event. Teams are comprised of two players. Cumulative scoring for both players on a team will count on every hole. Points are awarded individually for scores using a modified Stableford scoring table below.
Net Double Bogey or higher...........-3 points
Net Bogey.......................................-1 point
Net Par........................................... 2 points
Net Birdie....................................... 5 points
Net Eagle........................................ 8 points
Net Double Eagle or better............ 12 points
The highest combined team point total will be the winner.
During the championship, all players will play to their lowest Handicap Index from September 15 to December 1 and will receive 100% of their Course Handicap (unless otherwise noted by the SCGA). Awards will be given to those who finish in 1st through 5th place in each flight. All ties will be broken using the USGA method of matching scorecards (Holes 10 – 18, etc., from the second round).
TEES:
Men will play from the WHITE tee markers. (Please refer to the yardage tab located within the championship portal).

Women will play from the GOLD tee markers. (Please refer to the yardage tab located within the championship portal).
CR: 71.5 / Slope: 126 / approximately 5,325 yards
DRIVING RANGE:
The Driving Range will be open by 7:00 a.m. each day of the championship and range balls will be on the driving range. Range balls will be provided compliments of the SCGA and La Quinta Resort.
FOOD SERVICE AND PURCHASES:
The Mountain Dunes Grill will be open from 6:30 a.m. until the conclusion of play. Cash and major credit cards will be accepted for all purchases. The SCGA will not provide lunch on Monday or Tuesday, however each player will receive a drink voucher each day of the championship to be used with the beverage cart, the snack bar, or Mountain Dunes Grill.

RULES OF PLAY:
Play is governed by the Rules of Golf. Local Rules in effect will be found on the SCGA Hard Card and the Notice to Players addendum distributed at the site. Disregard all other club posted Local Rules including those on the back of the club’s scorecard.
AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION / PULL CARTS & PUSH CARTS:
Carts are included in the championship entry fee. There will be a maximum of two carts per group and two bags per cart. Drivers must be at least 16 years of age (or older if club policy dictates). Each player is entitled to one seat in a cart. If a player brings a caddie, the caddie may ride provided there is a vacant seat in one of the carts. Otherwise, either the player or the caddie must walk. Pull carts and push carts are allowed.
DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES AND CELL PHONES:
During the play of all SCGA competitions, a player may obtain distance information by use of a distance-measuring device. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g. elevation changes, wind speed, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3. A multi-functional device, such as a smartphone or PDA, may be used as a distance-measuring device, but it must not be used to gauge or measure other conditions where doing so would be a breach of Rule 14-3. Any questions about such devices should be resolved before the start of the stipulated round. Otherwise, cell phone use is discouraged during the stipulated round.
CADDIES & SPECTATORS:
Players may provide their own caddie (See section on Automotive Transportation). Caddies must adhere to the dress code listed in section below. Spectators are permitted but are not allowed in carts. Spectators must adhere to all policies set forth by the club.
DRESS CODE:
Players and caddies must be properly attired in golf shirts, slacks, Bermuda-length dress or golf shorts (no cargo shorts will be permitted) and soft spike shoes. Jeans (any color or any kind), T-shirts and tank tops will not be permitted. Shirts must be tucked in and hats are to be worn forward at all times.
PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT:
By submitting an entry for any SCGA-administered competition, the contestant understands that his/her participation is at the sole discretion of the SCGA. A contestant may be removed from any competition at the discretion of the SCGA staff or Rules and Competitions Committee at any time before or during the competition. Incidents of unbecoming conduct or actions deemed to be detrimental to the image of the SCGA or the “Spirit of the Game” are grounds for such removal and suspension from future SCGA-administered competitions. These include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Willful damage of the golf course or golf course property
- Club throwing or unnecessary club tossing
- Offensive or unbecoming language
- Public criticism of golf course or verbal abuse of SCGA staff, officials, volunteers, host club staff or other contestants
- Potential endangerment of others
- Conduct deemed unbecoming
- Failure to post scores for handicapping purposes
- Manipulation of scores posted for handicapping purposes
CANCELLATIONS:
To withdraw for any reason prior to the start of an SCGA competition, a player must notify the SCGA Rules and Competitions Department at (818) 980-3630, or by clicking here. If a player needs to withdraw on the morning of the event, notify the SCGA staff person through the golf shop staff at the host venue. Failure to notify the SCGA will subject the player to suspension from future SCGA competitions. Requests for refunds prior to the entry closing date will be honored less a $20 administrative fee (exempt teams only). Requests received after the entry closing date and 48 hours prior to the event will be honored less 50% of the entry fee. No refunds will be honored within 48 hours of the event.
