THE WELLESLEY WEALTH SCRATCH KNOCKOUT 2022

 

We are proud to announce that Wellesley Wealth will once again sponsor the Sussex County Golf Scratch Knockout for 2022. This year promises to be bigger and better than ever and sees the return of the Annual Scratch Draw night.

 

Entry fee: £100 to be paid via BACS after completion of the entry form.

 

The Competition

  1. Sussex County General Conditions apply in this Event.
  2. Teams of eight players.
  3. Foursomes A.M. and Singles P.M.
  4. The same team MUST be played A.M. and P.M. except in case of illness or injury when, by agreement between the two Team Captains, a substitute may play P.M.
  5. Play must be from the back Medal Tees.      
  6. Clubs that have more than one course must use the main course for each match.              
  7. Order of play will be decided by the team captains and exchanged before A.M. play for the foursomes and before P.M. play, no later than 30 minutes before commencement of play.
  8. Players and caddies will walk at all times Transportation Policy (englandgolf.org)
  9. Team Captains are required to be in attendance on the first tee at commencement of play and will be responsible for ensuring that the teams play in the order declared. Any match played out of order will be declared void.

Start Times and the Draw

  1. Morning Play shall commence in all matches at 08:30 hours unless by MUTUAL agreement an alternative start time is arranged, before the day of play.
  2. The Result shall be declared on the number of matches won or lost.
  3. In the event of a TIE, up to and including the Quarter-Final stages, the match will be awarded to the away team.
  4. If a TIE occurs in the Semi-Final or the Final it will be decided by one player from each side being nominated to play “sudden-death.
  5. The first four rounds shall be drawn at a date and time chosen by Sussex County Golf. The match should be played at the course of the team drawn ‘at home’.
  6. All matches shall be played on the Saturday of the weekend allocated in the County Fixture list.
  7. The Semi-Finals will be played on a neutral course.
  8. The Final will be played on a neutral course. One of the losing Clubs in the earlier rounds will normally be requested to host the Final.
  9. In the event that a Club may be requested to host a Semi Final or the Final, Club Secretaries must ensure that the dates notified in advance for the Semi-Finals and Final are kept open in their Fixture Lists.  It is a Condition of Entry that a Club asked to host any round will do so.
  10. County Officials will be delegated to attend the Final for the purposes of adjudication if required. Officials will NOT be supplied for prior rounds.
  11. All Clubs losing in the first and second rounds will be entered into the Plate competition. It is a condition of entry that clubs fulfil their Plate matches.  Any club not willing to play in the Plate should not enter the Championship.
  12. The home club will give the first tee honour to their opponents. In the semi-finals and finals, the Captains of the teams to toss for the honour.

Qualification

  1. Clubs must be registered on the WHS Platform and players all have a WHS Handicap Index to be eligible to enter this competition. Any team in breach of this may be disqualified.
  2. The Championship is a Match-play Team Event played off Scratch
  3. Teams to consist of EIGHT players who are members of the Club.
  4. Teams may be changed for each round, if desired, but no player may represent more than one Club in any one year.
  5. The Note to Rule 24.4a of the Rules of Golf will apply and each team may appoint one specified person as an advice giver.  The advice giver is the only person, apart from each player’s partner or caddy, authorised to give advice during play. If the advice giver is also playing in the competition they MUST NOT give advice as the nominated advice giver until they have finished playing.  Penalty for breach of Rule 24.4 is the General Penalty.

Other Matters

  1. Practice Rounds - it is a condition of entry that the HOME Club will allow a courtesy practice round to the visiting side from the tees to be used for the event.
  2. Arrangements for the practice rounds MUST be made in advance by the visiting Team Captain and the Home Club is requested to allow practice as convenient to the visitors as possible.
  3. The visiting side shall, under no circumstances, take more than TEN players for a practice round. Those ten should comprise the anticipated team plus two possible reserves.
  4. Course Condition - Club Secretaries are requested to give reasonable consideration to course condition and to state, with reasonable notice, whether their course is in fit playing condition. If necessary, the tie may be changed to the opponent’s course.
  5. Storm Condition - In condition of severe storms, at the discretion of the Home Club play will be suspended immediately on the sounding of a previously notified warning signal.  (Prior to the commencement of play, a notice must be posted advising players of the signals to be used under these conditions.)
  6. Should play be suspended for reasons of unplayable conditions, Saturday play should be recommenced on the Sunday wherever possible. In these circumstances, the Home Club Committee responsible for competitions shall act as the authorised representative of the County. Should Sunday play not be at all possible, recommencement of play MUST be arranged for the following weekend.
  7. Catering - the Costs of catering shall be shared by both teams for all ties, home and away, up to and including the quarterfinals; unless other arrangements are made by mutual agreement of both Clubs before the day of the match.
  8. Results - the Team Captain of the winning Club in each match, is responsible to ensure that the full and correct results are either e-mailed to the County office –countyoffice@sussexgolf.org over the weekend and /or text through to Emma Whitlock, on 07724916600 or the County office following the match.
