CommonGround Men’s Golf Club

Pace of Play Policy

It is expected that ALL groups (Except the lead group of the day) play their round in 4 hours and 30 minutes or less.  Tee times will be at 11-minute intervals, and the starter will ensure that each group starts at their designated start time using the official clock located on the 1st tee box.  Scorecards will have the time that the group should be clearing the green on every hole based on the assigned starting time.

There will be two checkpoints where volunteers will be collecting times.  The first volunteer will be located behind the 10th tee recording times when the flagstick hits the bottom of the cup at the completion of Hole #9.  The second volunteer will be located under the tree on the 17th tee box recording times when the flagstick hits the bottom of the cup at the completion of Hole #16.  Pace of play penalties will be assessed, as follows, without exception based on the official start time and the times that the volunteers collect.

•         If the first group of the tournament plays the first 16 holes in more than 3 hours and 46 minutes, each player in the group will receive a 2-stroke penalty assessed on hole 16.

•         All players in any pairing group that finishes the front 9 in more than 2 hours and 15 minutes AND is more than 16 minutes behind the group in front of them will receive a 2-stroke penalty per player assessed on hole 9.  If the group manages to catch up and finish in position after the 16th hole, the 2-stroke penalty from the front 9 will be rescinded.

•         All players in any pairing group that finishes 16 holes in more than 4 hours AND is more than 16 minutes behind the group in front of them will receive a 2-stroke penalty per player assessed on hole 18.

Penalties will be assessed during scoring by the golf shop staff.  Please do not argue with them if you receive a penalty.  The policy is black and white, and the golf shop staff will be using the data that the volunteers provide them with. If you feel your group encountered extenuating circumstances and believe a penalty waiver should be considered, please direct your appeal to the Men’s Club Board of Directors at mensclub@commongroundgc.com.
