Gentlemen of CommonGround Men’s Golf Club,

A word about the Solich Caddie and Leadership Academy,

For many new guys in 2020 and 2021, and a refresher for guys new in 2019 and earlier, you may not know about or remember that CommonGround Golf Course is the inaugural facility for the Solich Caddie and Leadership Academy.

The Academy was endowed by George and Geoff “Duffy” Solich in 2012 to get kids who might be candidates for an Evans Caddie Scholarship to the golf course. Continued fundraising by the Colorado Golf Association and Colorado Golf Foundation have created growth in the program to other locations around the state, including Meridian Golf Club here in metro Denver, Grand Junction, Pueblo, and others.

Along with leadership classes and volunteer activities through the summer, they are primarily in caddie training. Assuming they caddie enough over two summers, the kids will move on to other caddie clubs around town, like Cherry Hills CC, Denver CC, Lakewood CC, among others.

The success of the program depends on golfers at CommonGround taking caddies. To make this easy, the Academy pays the base fee for the kids and all a golfer should do is tip the kid at the end of the round.

To request a caddie, call CommonGround Golf Course at 303-340-1520 when you make a tee time or get your club assigned caddie for our events. Or email Keith Bussey at caddies@commongroundgc.com. There is also an app for your device that you can use called CaddieNow. More information on the app can be found at the golf shop counter.
