Greetings Oneka Ridge Ladies Wednesday PM League Members,

Welcome to the 2022 golf season! The first night of league will be Wednesday, April 13th and run until Wednesday, September 14th (23 league weeks).  The format this year will be similar to last year with a tee time side from 3:30 to 6:00PM and a shotgun side at 5:30PM. If your team was on the tee time side last year, you will have first pick at your same tee time from last year. I’ll send out an e-mail soon to ask teams if they would like to keep their tee times. Otherwise, after March 15th we will open up the registration to new players and finalize those times and they will be set for the year. If you are on the shotgun side, teams will go into Golf Genius at 10AM the day of league, similar to last year, to sign-up for a starting hole.

The league fee will be $125.00 this year, which will go towards weekly payouts on games and proxies, prizes and food for 5 fun event nights. League fees are due before your first round on April 13th. This fee does NOT include a GHIN handicap.  If you would like to establish a handicap, please e-mail the staff and we can get you set-up for one. GHIN cost is $29. The daily green fee will be $22.00 for 9 holes walking and $32.00 for 9 holes with a cart.  You will be able to pay online or in the Pro Shop for your greens fees the day of league.

After each event, we will post the winners of the events and proxies on Golf Genius. You can access Golf Genius via the website or by downloading the app on your phone.

Website: www.golfgenius.com

Click sign-in and then enter the GGID for your league.

Tee time side GGID: ONEKA6

Shotgun side GGID: ONEKA5

Events and proxy money won will go into individual accounts in the Pro Shop. You can use this money to buy merchandise in the pro shop including clothing, shoes, golf clubs, balls, tees, gloves, etc. Money cannot be used for greens fees, driving range or for food and beverage. You will always be able to check your credit balance in the Pro Shop.

The schedule of events is listed below and is on your Golf Genius page. We received feedback from various ladies in our league so you will notice some of the games have changed this year. We focused on more team events based on your suggestions. We are also adding more proxies each week (4 on each side) to give more ladies a chance to win payouts. Additionally, we will offer some cash games on some of the league nights. $5 entry fee per player to be entered and winners are paid out in cash.

Our opening meeting will be on Wednesday April 6th, at 5:30PM.

One person from your team is required to be there as we will be going over all the information you need for the year including explanation of games, payouts, rules, etc. We will be serving light appetizers, we will be giving out prizes and will have the cash bar open so you won’t want to miss it.

If you have questions or concerns before the opening meeting, feel free to email us.

We look forward to seeing you at the opening meeting!

Golf Event Explanations

Three Hole Throwout: Each player will record their score on each hole. At the end of the round, the Pro Shop will pick three holes at random to be thrown out. Everyone’s scores for these three holes are thrown out. Scores are then added up and the lowest scores win.

Three Score Throwout: Each player will record their score on each hole. At the end of the round, the Pro Shop will throw out your 3 worst scores so you are left with 6 holes to score. Scores are then added up and the lowest scores win.

2 Person Best Ball: Each player plays her own ball. Record your scores for all players on the team. The best score out of the two players, on each hole will count as your score. Ex. if I get a 5 on a hole and my partner gets a 4, the lower score, the 4, will be the score for the team.

4 Person Best Ball: Each player plays her own ball. Record your scores for all players on the team. The best score out of the four players, on each hole will count as your score. Ex. if I get a 5 on a hole and the rest of my group got 6s, the lower score, 5 will be the score on that hole for the team.

Four Suits (Modified 4 Person Best Ball): Four person team, score one net best ball per hole. Each player on the team is designated a card suit- clubs, diamonds, spades or hearts. At the end of each hole, a card in an envelope will be placed at the next tee box. The player whose suit matches the suit of the card in the envelope will post her score on the card as the team score for the hole. Lowest team score after 9 holes wins.

2 Person Scramble: A 2 Person Scramble is a team format. After each golfer on the team plays a stroke, the teammates compare the results and select the best shot. Both players then play the next stroke from that spot.

  • Both players tee off and then pick the best shot

  • Both players then hit from that location

  • The ball can be moved within one club length of the best shot (except on the green), but no closer to hole

  • You cannot move out of the rough, sand trap or hazard with your one club length

  • When you are on the green, you both putt from the marked spot.

  • Repeat this process until you hole out.

  • All putts must be holed - no gimmees

  • Teams write down one score for their team on the scorecard

  • Lowest scoring team wins

4 Person Scramble: A 4 Person Scramble is a team format. After each golfer on the team plays a stroke, the teammates compare the results and select the best shot. All players then play the next stroke from that spot.

  • All players in the foursome tee off and then pick the best shot

  • All players in the foursome then hit from that location

  • The ball can be moved within one club length of the best shot (except on the green), but no closer to hole

  • You cannot move out of the rough, sand trap or hazard with your one club length

  • When you are on the green, you all putt from the marked spot.

  • Repeat this process until you hole out.

  • All putts must be holed - no gimmees

  • Teams write down one score for their team on the scorecard

  • Lowest scoring team wins

Stableford: Stableford scoring is a stroke-play format in which the high total wins, not the low. That's because, in Stableford, your final score is not your stroke total, but rather the total points you have earned for your scores on each individual hole. For example, a bogey is 1 point, a par is 2 points, a birdie is 3 points and an eagle is 4 points. If you par the first hole and birdie the second, you've accrued 3 points. Points are added up by the Pro Shop after your scorecard is turned in and the highest total points wins.

Magic Ball: Each team is given a specifically marked colored ball that will rotate among players on each hole. The team is each assigned a number 1-4 based on your scorecard. The first name on the scorecard is #1 and so on down the line. The colored ball rotates to each player in the rotation at each hole. Example: #1 person on the scorecard will play with the magic ball on holes 1,5 and 9. #2 person on the scorecard will play with the magic ball on holes 2 and 6. #3 person on the scorecard will play with the magic ball on holes 3 and 7 and #4 person will play with the magic ball on holes 4 and 8. This is a team game so you will record one score per hole. The score recorded is the magic ball score. If you lose your ball, your team is ineligible to win. At the end of the round, return your ball back to the Pro Shop with your scorecard. Lowest team score wins. If no team brings back the magic ball, the team that kept theirs the longest wins.

2 Person Combined Score: A 2 Person Combined Score is a team event. Each player plays her own ball. Record scores for all players after each hole. The two scores for the team are combined at the end of the 9 holes. Lowest combined team score wins.

Proxy Nights Explanation:

Longest Drive - Person whose first shot off the tee is the farthest distance away from the starting tee box - must be in the fairway to be eligible.

Shortest Drive - Person whose first shot off the tee is the shortest distance away from the starting tee box - must be in the fairway to be eligible.

Closest to the Pin - Person whose first shot off the tee is closest to the hole (or in the hole) on a Par 3. Measure the distance from the cup to your ball with your feet or a club to determine distance. Ball must be on the green to be eligible.

Longest Putt - Person who putts their ball into the hole at the furthest distance on the green. Measure the distance from the cup to your ball before you putt to ensure your putt is the longest.
