GENERAL INFORMATION
FOR ALL MGA TOURNAMENTS
SIGN-UP PROCESS:
Sign up and registration for all MGA events is on-line using Golf Genius. Registration for each event (except The Yank & Silver Cup) open exactly four weeks prior to the date of the tournament. Registration is available online at https://pcc-men.golfgenius.com. Links to register will also be sent out via email approximately four weeks prior to the event date as well. If any MGA member wants to play in a tournament but does have a full team for registration, they are encouraged to contact the pro shop who will attempt to match them with other members to complete a team.
ELIGIBILITY:
To be eligible to sign up and play in any MGA event:
- The participant must have paid the current year MGA dues and be current with their PCC account.
- For most tournaments, signups are on a first come, first serve basis until full. Once a tournament is full, newer registrations will be waitlisted and the pro shop will notify the teams if a spot opens up.
- The Yank and The Silver Cup have different eligibility rules and registration priorities as outlined in their registration descriptions.
ENTRY FEE:
The Entry Fee for each tournament (including Thursday Night Scramble) will be billed to the member’s account. The Entry Fee does not include the Cart Fee(s) which will also be billed to your account. Members using the PCC Annual Cart Program will not be billed for carts during a tournament. The Entry Fee’s as published are subject to change.
TEE BOX POLICY (Except for Thursday Night & Super Scramble and Silver Cup):
The player will play from the tee box that they regularly play based on the most recent handicap update. The tees you regularly play are called your 'default tees'. Please check with the pro shop to make sure your default tees are set up properly in GHIN based on the tees you regularly play. If a player plays a variety of tee boxes, then the last 20 “slopes” will be averaged, and that player will play from the tee box that has the closest slope rating during the tournament.
HANDICAPS:
Handicaps for each tournament will be based on the player’s index one to two days before the tournament. Players will receive their full course handicap (based on the tees they are playing) with no limit or restrictions. Under the new World Handicap System, additional strokes will automatically be added to the players that are playing from the higher rated tees. All indexes used for tournaments are subject to review and potential adjustment by the handicap committee.
FOOD & BEVERAGE:
Any food or beverage other than that provided during breakfast and lunch will be billed to the member’s account.
TOURNAMENT HORSE RACE:
There will be pari-mutuel wagering for each MGA Tournament (other than The Silver Cup). During breakfast, MGA Committee members take wagers from 7:30AM until 8:30AM. For “The Yank”, pari-mutuel wagering will be available immediately after the 5th round of match play and prior to the start of the shoot-out. Wagers may be in any single dollar denomination and exact cash is required. Horse race winning team numbers will be displayed on the tournament scoreboard. Cash payouts will generally be available in the pro shop by Friday morning following the tournament.
CLOSEST TO THE PIN CONTEST:
There will be a closest to the pin contest on each of the par 3’s during every weekend tournament. The entry fee is included in the tournament fee.
SCORECARD POLICY:
Even though Golf Genius will be used for almost all MGA Events, your scorecard will not be accepted unless you accurately record each player’s gross scores. For Stableford formats, players record both their individual and team points. All tournament scores will be posted to GHIN by the pro shop staff.
CANCELLATION POLICY:
For any team that withdraws from a tournament after 5PM the Thursday prior to the weekend event, each player on the team will be billed the tournament fee that was posted for that event.
PACE OF PLAY POLICY:
All MGA 18-hole tournaments are to be played at a 4 ½ hour maximum pace. Each group is expected to “be in position” at all times. Being “out of position” is when your group reaches the teeing area of a par 4 or par 5 and the preceding group has completed play on that hole. General guidelines on maintaining a group’s position or returning to position are as follows:
- Play ready golf and be ready to play when it is your turn.
- Observe the prescribed maximum stroke rule for the tournament.
- If allowed under tournament rules, utilize the local rule for out of bounds and lost balls.
- The maximum time allowed to search for a lost ball is three (3) minutes.
- In match play, pick up if you are out of the hole and record the reasonable score you would have made.
- If cart path only, please take your range finder and several clubs with you.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR POINTS:
For the Player of the Year competition, points will be awarded according to the Player of the Year Policy.
