IMPORTANT:  BOTH PLAYERS on your team must first register in the MSGA Tournament Directory to play in any MSGA event.  This is a one-time registration (see instructions below).  If you registered last year, you can skip this step.  Once both have registered, one player can log in and apply, adding their teammate with a search.  Only players registered in the MSGA directory will show in the search. 

 

 

2022 Men’s and Women's State Four Ball Championship

Old Works Golf Course, Anaconda, Montana

May 21, 22

 

This tournament is a 2 Person Better Ball competition, with 3 Divisions (Men, Women, and Mixed).

 

Requirements:

 

Both members of your team must be legal residents of Montana and current members of the Montana State Golf Association.  Revision cutoff for the tournament is May 15, 2022.  Contestants without an MSGA Member Number (GHIN®#) will not be accepted.  Your online application will serve as your testament of Montana citizenship.

 

Men's Division:  Maximum team Handicap Index® total of 36.0.

Women's Division:  Maximum team Handicap Index® total of 46.0.

Mixed Division:  Maximum team Handicap Index® total of 40.0.

 

Field Size:  200 players, or 100 teams of 2.

Online registration fee is $250 is per team, which includes two rounds of golf and a cart (if requested).

Divisions will be flighted based on team Handicap Index® total.  Gross and Net prizes in each Division.

Men's tee yardage will be 6,600-6,800 and Women's tee yardage will be 5,200-5,400.

 

Note:  Deadline for entry is May 14, 2022, or when field is filled.  No entry refunds will be allowed after this date.  Registration fee includes a non-refundable $5 credit card fee.

 

Your entry will be confirmed by email.  Unless you have an entry confirmation, you are not officially entered in the State Tournament.  No entries will be accepted at Old Works Golf Course.

 

Tee times will be emailed, texted, and posted by May 16.

 

Regulations, Personal Appearance
Distance measuring devices are permitted per USGA Local Rule (Decision 14-3/0.5).  No metal or ceramic spikes permitted - soft spikes will be mandatory.  Players are required to wear proper golf attire.

 

Rules of Competition
The USGA Rules of Golf will govern play.  The MSGA Tournament Committee, whose decision will be final, will settle questions.  The competition will be deemed closed when the winners’ awards have been presented.  Ties will be settled using the Most to Least Difficult Hole tie-breaking method, except divisional champions are determined by a sudden death playoff.  A complete Rules sheet will be posted and emailed to players the week before the tournament.

 

Practice Round and Registration
Practice round and cart will be available for a nominal fee.  Beginning May 1, you may call (406) 563-5989 to schedule your practice round.  Range balls will be complimentary.  Player registration at Old Works will open May 20.
