IMPORTANT:  You must first register in the MSGA Tournament Directory to play in any MSGA event.  This is a one-time registration (see instructions below).  If you registered last year, you can skip this step.



2022 Women’s State, Mid, and Senior Amateur Championships

Lake Hills Golf Club, Billings, Montana

July 14, 15, 16




You must be a legal resident of Montana, a current member of the Montana State Golf Association, and have a maximum established Handicap Index® of 40.0.  Revision cutoff for the tournament is July 8, 2022.  Contestants without an MSGA Member Number (GHIN®#) will not be accepted.  Your online application will serve as your testament of Montana citizenship. 


State Amateur:  No age requirement.

Mid Amateur:  Must be at least 30 yrs old by 7/14/22.

Senior Amateur:  Must be at least 55 yrs old by 7/14/22.


Field Size:  200 players

Online registration fee is $230, which includes player banquet & party.  Cart fee is $45 (1 seat, 3 days).  No club storage will be provided.  Any guest social fee will be paid at the event.

Players will be flighted based on Handicap Index®.  Stroke Play.  State Am yardage will be 5800-6000, Mid Am yardage 5600-5800, and Senior Am yardage 5100-5300.


Note:  Deadline for entry is July 7, 2022, or when field is filled.  No entry refunds will be allowed after this date.  Registration fee includes a non-refundable $5 credit card fee. 


Your entry will be confirmed by email.  Unless you have an entry confirmation, you are not officially entered in the State Tournament.  No entries will be accepted at Lake Hills Golf Club.


Tee times will be emailed, texted, and posted by July 9.


Regulations, Personal Appearance
Distance measuring devices are permitted per USGA Local Rule (Decision 14-3/0.5).  No metal or ceramic spikes permitted - soft spikes will be mandatory.  Players are required to wear proper golf attire.  

Rules of Competition
The USGA Rules of Golf will govern play.  The MSGA Tournament Committee, whose decision will be final, will settle questions.  The competition will be deemed closed when the winners’ awards have been presented.  The lowest 54-hole score in the State Am, Mid Am, and Senior Am divisions will be the 2022 Champions.  Awards will be presented to 1st, 2nd, & 3rd places in all flights.  Ties will be settled using the Most to Least Difficult Hole tie-breaking method, except divisional champions are determined by a sudden death playoff.  A complete Rules sheet will be posted and emailed to players the week before the tournament.


Practice Round
One complimentary practice round will be available.  Beginning July 1, you may call (406) 252-9244 to schedule your practice round.  Player is responsible for cart fee during practice round.  Range balls will be complimentary.


Thursday, July 14:  1st round - 18 holes;  7pm Special Event.  Friday, July 15:  2nd round - 18 holes; 7pm Special Event.  Saturday, July 16:  Final round - 18 holes; Awards presentation following competition.

Player registration at Lake Hills Golf Club will open July 13.
