IMPORTANT:  You must first register in the MSGA Tournament Directory to play in any MSGA event.  This is a one-time registration (see instructions below).  If you registered last year, you can skip this step.

 

 

2022 Men’s State Mid-Amateur Championship

Marias Valley Golf & Country Club, Shelby, Montana

August 11, 12, 13

 

Requirements:

 

You must be a legal resident of Montana, a current member of the Montana State Golf Association, and have a maximum established Handicap Index® of 15.0.  Revision cutoff for the tournament is August 5, 2022.  Contestants without an MSGA Member Number (GHIN®#) will not be accepted.  Entrants must be 25 years of age or older by 8/11/22.  Your online application will serve as your testament of Montana citizenship.

 

Field Size:  200 players

Online registration fee is $230.  If cart requested (1 seat, 3 days), fee will be paid at the club on day of registration.  

Players will be flighted based on Handicap Index®.  Stroke Play.  Yardage will be approximately 6400-6600 yards.

 

Note:  Deadline for entry is August 4, 2022, or when field is filled.  No entry refunds will be allowed after this date.  Registration fee includes a non-refundable $5 credit card fee.

 

Your entry will be confirmed by email.  Unless you have an entry confirmation, you are not officially entered in the State Tournament.  No entries will be accepted at Marias Valley Golf & Country Club.

 

Tee times will be emailed, texted, and posted by August 6.

 

Regulations, Personal Appearance
Distance measuring devices are permitted per USGA Local Rule (Decision 14-3/0.5).  No metal or ceramic spikes permitted - soft spikes will be mandatory.  Players are required to wear proper golf attire.  

 

Rules of Competition
The USGA Rules of Golf will govern play.  The MSGA Tournament Committee, whose decision will be final, will settle questions.  The competition will be deemed closed when the winners’ awards have been presented.  The lowest 54-hole score will be the 2022 Champion.  Awards will be presented in all flights.  Ties will be settled using the Most to Least Difficult Hole tie-breaking method, except the champion is determined by a sudden death playoff.  A complete Rules sheet will be posted and emailed to players the week before the tournament.

 

Practice Round
One complimentary practice round will be available.  Beginning July 27, you may call (406) 434-5940 to schedule your practice round.  Player is responsible for cart fee during practice round, and for cost of range balls.

 

Schedule
Thursday, August 11:  1st round - 18 holes;  Friday, August 12:  2nd round - 18 holes; Saturday, August 13:  Final round - 18 holes; An awards presentation will follow the competition.

 

Registration
Player registration at Marias Valley Golf & Country Club will open August 10.
