21st Oregon Public Links Championship

OGA Golf Course

August 11 – 12, 2018

 

Thank you for your entry into the 21st Oregon Public Links Championship, August 11 - 12, at the OGA Golf Course in Woodburn OR.  Enclosed you will find your starting time for the first round on Saturday, August 11th.  Upon the completion of Saturday’s round, the field will be repaired by gross score for the final round, on Sunday, August 12th.  Please check the OGA website (www.oga.org) or phone (503) 989-0069 on Saturday evening for final round starting times.

Practice Round: Players may call the OGA Golf Course (503- 981-4653), at any time to make practice round arrangements. Practice rounds are available on a space available basis and after 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Contestants are eligible for one complimentary practice round. Practice rounds are for contestants only and will not be extended to guests, caddies, or family members. You must identify yourself as a Public Links Championship Contestant in order to receive your free practice round. Players who wish to use their practice round are expected to abide by all club rules including pace of play. 

Course Yardage: Please see enclosed course yardage list.  As a reminder the Men’s Championship and Open Division will play from separate yardages. (Yardages are subject to change at any time by The Committee.)

Practice Range: The OGA will provide a complimentary bucket of range balls before each round. Range balls will be located on the driving range. The Range will open at 6 am each day of the competition.

 

OGA Hosted Lunch: The OGA will be hosting lunch on Saturday.

 

Cart Reservations: Carts have been reserved based on requests indicated on the entry forms.  Contestants must pay the appropriate cart fee to the pro shop at the time of rental. As a reminder, please follow any cart path restrictions posted by the OGA Golf Course.

 

Caddies: You may bring your own; OGA Golf Course will not have caddies available. 

 

Spikeless Shoes: It is a condition of this competition that metal or traditionally designed spikes are prohibited.  This includes alternative spikeless products, which are partially comprised of metal, when such metal comes in contact with the turf.  The penalty for breach of this condition is disqualification.

 

Dress Code: Proper attire must be worn at all times.  Proper attire does not include spandex body wear, cutoffs, running shorts, short-shorts, tank tops, tee shirts, or denim of any kind or color, or unkempt clothing of any kind.  Neat and clean pants, skirts, slacks, cords, or appropriately hemmed, tailored shorts no more than 6 inches above the knee (men’s shorts must have a minimum of three pockets) are acceptable, as are sweaters and sweatshirts, golf shirts (men’s must have collars) women’s golf shirts and golf blouses.  Shoes must be worn at all times.  Contestants not in compliance with the OGA Dress Code will be Disqualified from the championship and removed from the golf course.

 

Golf Balls: Optional condition for “Conforming Golf Ball” is in effect as prescribed in Appendix I in the Rules of Golf. The so called “One – Ball Rule” will not be in effect for this championship.

 

Golf Clubs: Optional condition is in effect as prescribed in Appendix I in the Rules of Golf.

 

OGA Pace of Play Guidelines: will be in effect during the championship.  OGA Pace of Play guidelines are available at www.oga.org.   Pace of play guidelines will also be available before each round at the starter’s tent.

Distance Measuring Devices:  As a condition of this competition, the use of electronic measuring devices will be allowed as provided in the Local Rule. 

 

Score Posting: will be done by the OGA for each round after the championship has been completed.  The OGA will post each player’s adjusted score to GHIN as a tournament score, for handicapping purposes.

 

Handicaps: The August 1st handicap revision will be used for the Championship. Note the course rating in the course yardage information.

 

Format and Prizes: 36-hole stroke play competition. In case of a tie, a hole by hole playoff will determine the gross champion in the Men’s Championship and Women’s Divisions. A tie of two players for the runner up position in the Men’s Championship and Women’s Division or either the gross or net champion in the Open Division will result in runner up awards being split and distribution of awards will be decided by lot. However, in the event of a tie of three players or more for the runner up position in any division the USGA recommended scorecard playoff will be used to determine who will receive the runner up awards (Jones Sports Co. product and crystal award).

Men’s Championship Division: The Public Links title will be awarded to the gross champion and will receive an award from Jones Sports Co. The runner up in this division will also receive an award from Jones Sports Co. Prizes will be awarded to the top gross and net finishers, with more emphasis on gross.

Men’s Open Division: Prizes will be awarded to the top gross and net finishers. The gross and net champions will receive awards from Jones Sports Co.

Women’s Division: Prizes will be awarded to the top gross and net finishers. The runner up in this division will also receive an award from Jones Sports Co.
