Additional Local Rules - Catalina Country Club

 

Preferred Lies – Closely mown areas 30cm.

 

Wheel Marks / Area of New Work – If a ball comes to rest in Wheel Marks caused by course machinery or areas of new work (sanded drainage areas) in the General Area, free relief may be obtained under Rule 16.1/

 

Tree Removal – Where trees have been removed and damage to the surface interferes with the lie of the players ball or the area of his / her intended swing, relief may be obtained under Rule 16/

 

Tree Root Removal – All works associated with the removal of Trees, or any other trenching, in the General Area of the course is to be treated as Abnormal Course Conditions and relief may be obtained under Rule 16/

 

Out of Bounds near Clubhouse – The Clubhouse and the area surrounding the Golf Shop is deemed Out of Bounds. The boundary for this area is the outer wall of the garden and the brick wall between the 1st Tee and the Clubhouse.

 

Kangaroo damage in bunkers – Relief may be taken from all animal footprints in a bunker in accordance with Rule 16.1c. Note. Agreement must be reached with your marker or fellow competitor that the ball does lie in an animal footprint.

 

5th Tee – Ball in Penalty Area from Men’s Blue Tee – When playing a ball from the Blue Plate Tee, a player whose ball is known or virtually certain to have finished in the Penalty Area may proceed under Rule 17, or as an additional option, use the Drop Zone provided on the left hand side of the Penalty Area, on the green side of the Penalty Area. In either case the player will be playing their 3rd shot.

Note 1 – The Drop Zone is marked with a Blue Post. The Ball must be dropped within 2 club lengths of the post, no nearer the hole.

Note 2 – When playing from the White, Red or Yellow Tees, play proceeds under Rule 17.

 

Protection of Young Trees – If a tree is identified by a Stake or Tree Guard interferes with a players stance or area of intended swing, the ball must be lifted, without penalty, and dropped in accordance with the procedure prescribed in Rule 16.1b (Abnormal Course Condition including Immovable Obstructions).

 

Drop Zones on Holes 14 & 23 – If a ball enters the Penalty Area adjacent to the green on holes 14 & 23, and it is not possible to drop a ball within 2 club lengths of the point where the ball crossed the margin of the Penalty Area, that is not nearer the hole than that point, the player may proceed under Rule 17, or as an additional option, drop a ball, under a penalty of 1 stroke, in the Drop Zone provided. Note:  The Drop Zones are marked by a Blue post. The ball must be dropped within 2 club lengths of the post, no nearer to the hole.

 

Relief from Garden Beds – Free relief from Garden Beds and Regeneration Areas (defined by ground covered with mulch), is permitted. If a ball lies in the Garden Bed surrounding the 5th Green, relief may be taken. If relief is taken, the ball Must be dropped in the Drop Zone signified by the Blue Post. The ball must be dropped within 2 club lengths of the post, no nearer the hole.

 

Abnormal Ground Conditions – On ‘Closely Mown Areas’ only, players may take relief from ground defined as Abnormal (effected by water lying for extended periods of time). Relief may be taken at nearest point of relief no nearer the hole.

 

Penalty for breach of Local Rule

  • Stroke Play – 2 Strokes
  • Matchplay – loss of hole

Tournament Information - Catalina Country Club

 

Tournament Office, Player Registration and Scorecard Return

  • All players must register with JNJG Staff in the tournament office at least 20 mins before their tee time on both days.
  • The tournament office is located in the Coffee Lounge / Sports Lounge, just opposite the Golf Shop.
  • Players MUST move straight from the 18th green to the tournament office to complete and sign their scorecards.
  • A player’s scorecard is deemed officially returned to the Tournament Committee when the player has left the tournament office. Once the player has left the tournament office, no changes may be made to the scorecard.

In the case of a player being unable to gain assistance from one of the numbers above, the player may proceed in accordance with the procedure outlined in Rule 20.1c(3) of the Rules of Golf and nominate to play a second ball. The player must report the facts of the situation to the Committee before returning the scorecard, even if the player scores the same with both balls.

 

Maximum Score Format of Play (Rules of Golf Rule 21.2)

  • Maximum Score is a form of stroke play where a player’s score for a hole is capped a maximum number of strokes set by the committee.
  • At JNJG Junior Masters Events, the maximum score for any hole is 10 strokes.

 

Parents, Spectators and Bag Pusher Guidelines

  • There are no caddies allowed at any JNJG Tour Event.
  • Players competing in the Boys and Girls 11 Years and Under Divisions can have someone walk the course with them and act as a “Bag Pusher”, with the primary role to be helping the entire group (not just their own player) with Pace of Play.

Driving Range

  • The Driving Range will be open from 6am on both days and small buckets of balls can be purchased from the Pro Shop. 
  • A maximum of 8 players may use the range at any one time, so please be courteous to all players in the field when warming up.
  • Shots on the driving range are limited to a maximum of 200m.
  • Any player found hitting balls more than 200m on the range may be disqualified.

 

Player Food and Drink

  • All players will be given something to eat and drink on both days.
  • Saturday will be a sandwich and drink. Players will be presented with a voucher upon registration for each of these and they can be collected from the golf club.
  • Sunday will be the same for drinks (collected from the pro shop), however the food component will be a bacon and egg roll which will be available from outside the golf shop from 6am.

 

Course Information

  • White JNJG Tee Markers – Boys 12 - 17 Years Divisions
  • Red JNJG Tee Markers – All Girls divisions
  • Yellow JNJG Tee Markers – Boys 11 Years & Under Division

 

 

Make sure you keep up with the group in front, carry and use a sand bucket to replace divots, and fix all pitch marks on the greens. Let’s leave the course in the same condition as when we arrived!!
