Cypress Lakes Golf and Country Club – Additional Local Rules

 

(To be read in conjunction with the GA and JNJG Local Rules and Condition of Competition Sheet and the Rules of Golf as adopted by the R&A)

Any Local Rules displayed on the clubs’ local rules board or as printed on the club’s scorecard are to be disregarded for this event.

 

  1. OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 18)
    1. All areas outside the boundary of the property as defined by the perimeter fence
    2. Beyond the inside points, at ground level, of any line of white stakes with black tops
    3. Beyond the black fence bordering the resort pool area
  2. PENALTY AREAS (Rule 17)
    1. Where a Penalty Area is marked with both stakes and painted lines, the stake identifies the penalty area while the line defines the penalty area
    2. Red Penalty Areas are defined by red stakes, lines or plates.
  3. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 16)
    1. All stakes defining GUR, Penalty Areas & Distance Markers
    2. All artificially surfaced roads & paths
  4. ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITION (Rule 16)
    1. Areas encircled by white paint, marked as dots, broken lines, unbroken lines or white pavers, white stakes and / or Ground Under Repair signage
    2. Clearly defined wheel ruts in the General Area made by course maintenance machinery
    3. Areas in bunkers where sand has been removed by the movement of water resulting in deep furrows through the sand.
    4. In Bunkers, Damage that is clearly identifiable as having been caused by animals is ground under repair from which free relief is allowed under Rule 16.1c
    5. Areas of bare earth on parts of the General Area cut to fairway height or less, not including divots
  5. TREES & SHRUBS
    1. In the General Area, staked trees are no play zones and are ground under repair (the GUR includes any stakes and/or protective guards. Relief MUST be taken in accordance with 16.1b
  6. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (EG SPRINKLER HEADS) CLOSE TO PUTTING GREENS – LINE OF PLAY INTERFERENCE
    1. Rule 16.1b applies to immovable obstructions close to putting greens. In addition to the types of interference described in Rule 16.1a, interference also exists if an immovable obstruction is: on the player’s line of play, and is within two club-lengths of the putting green, and is within two club-lengths of the ball. (Exception – There is no relief under this Local Rule if the player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable.)
  7. PREFERRED LIES
    1. When a player’s ball lies in a part of the general area cut to fairway height or less, the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing from this relief area:
      • Reference point: Spot of the original ball.
      • Size of Relief Area Measured from Reference Point: 30cm from the reference point, but with these limit:
      • Limits on Location of Relief AREA:
        • Must not be nearer the hole than the reference point, and
        • Must be in the general area.

In proceeding under this Local Rule, the player must choose a spot to place the ball and use the procedures for replacing a ball under Rule 14.2b(2) and 14.2e.

  1. DROP ZONES
            1. If a ball is in the ground under repair.
  • Behind the 8th green
  • or in front of the 18th green

when it is known or virtually certain that a ball that has not been found came to rest in the ground under repair, the player may:

  • Take free relief under Rule 16.1, or
  • As an extra option, take free relief by dropping the original ball or another ball in the dropping zone.

 

  • On the 14th if the ball does not cross the Penalty area (Dam) there is an optional Drop Zone on the forward tee.
  • On the 17th relief for a ball at rest beyond the blue line ON THE PATH
    • The Dropping Zone is Located on the spare 18th tee.
  • DROPPING ZONES (indicated by white With Blue Tops “dropping” stakes)
    • When the player is using a dropping zone, the ball must be dropped in the dropping zone and it must come to rest in the dropping zone. The margin of the dropping zone is defined as two club-lengths in any direction from the dropping stake.

 

UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, THE PENALTY FOR BREACH OF A LOCAL RULE IS THE GENERAL PENALTY:

Cypress Lakes Golf and Country Club – Tournament Information

 

  1. Tournament Office and Scorecard Return
    1. Prior to the round, players must report to the Tournament Office to collect their scorecard, local rules and pin sheets, a minimum of 20 mins before their allocated tee time.
    2. A player’s scorecard is deemed officially returned to the Tournament Committee at the completion of the round when the player has left the tournament office. Once the player has left the tournament office, no changes may be made to the scorecard.

 

  1. On Course Live Scoring
    1. At the completion of Holes 4, 9, 13 and 18, all players must verbally enter their scores with the JNJG Scoring Official, located at the back of the green. These scores are for live scoring purposes only and changes can be made to the entered scores at the completion of the round, prior to returning the scorecard.

 

  1. On Course Enquiries
    1. Players may call the following numbers and either a rules official will attend if possible:

    2. In the case of a player being unable to gain assistance from one of the numbers above, the player may proceed in accordance with the procedure outlined in Rule 20.1c(3) of the Rules of Golf and nominate to play a second ball. The player must report the facts of the situation to the Committee before returning the scorecard, even if the player scores the same with both balls.

 

  1. Parents, Spectators and Bag Pusher Guidelines
    1. There are no caddies allowed at any JNJG Tour Event.
    2. See the JNJG Parents, Spectator and Bag Pusher guidelines for more details on what spectators can and can’t do on the golf course.

    1. Tee Markers
      1. White JNJG Tee Markers – all BOYS divisions
      2. Red JNJG Tee Markers – all GIRLS divisions

 

Make sure you keep up with the group in front, carry and use a sand bucket to replace divots, and fix all pitch marks on the greens. Let’s leave the course in the same condition as when we arrived!!
