FORMAT &

QUALIFYING PLACES

18 holes of individual stroke play for a number qualifying spots and alternate spots to be determined to advance to sectional qualifying for the 2018 U.S. Open Championship to be played June 14-17 at Shinnecock Hills GC in Southampton, NY.

PRACTICE ROUNDS

One practice round per player and practice rounds are for players only. Practice rounds will be available on the designated dates and times below. Please call Georgia National Golf Club to reserve your practice round starting time. Practice round fees are $30 plus tax and must be paid regardless of whether or not the player chooses to walk or ride. Cash and credit cards will be accepted methods of payment in the golf shop.

  • Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, anytime.
  • Friday – Sunday, after 1 p.m.

CARTS

Practice round fees are $30 plus tax. Cash and credit cards will be accepted. During the qualifying round, a caddie may transport a player’s bag on a cart for a fee of $10 plus tax.  Spectator carts are strictly prohibited at all USGA qualifying rounds.

YARDAGES & TEES

The Championship (BLACK) tee markers will be used.  Yardages are approximate and may be adjusted due to inclement weather or other factors that may affect the playing conditions during the competition.

GOLF SHOP &

DRIVING RANGE:

The golf shop and driving range will open 7:00 a.m. the morning of qualifying.

STARTING TIMES

Starting times for tournament play will be assigned by the USGA/GSGA and will be posted at the club the day before the qualifying round. You may visit www.gsga.org for complete pairing information and starting times after May 4. 

REGISTRATION

NO formal registration will be held on site.  Players should arrive to their assigned starting tee ten minutes before their starting time to allow for the starter to go over instructions and rules of play. Player withdraws must be called in to the GSGA office at (678) 324-5974 or e-mailed to radams@gsga.org

CADDIES

Players may provide their own caddie.

RULES OF PLAY/PACE OF PLAY/CART POLICY

The USGA Rules of Play and GSGA Pace of Play Policy shall be in effect. Click here to view policies.

PREFERRED LIES

Per the USGA, for all USGA Championships and qualifying rounds, the following policy is in effect: A Local Rule authorizing “Preferred Lies” or “Winter Rules” is NEVER permitted.

PERSONAL APPEARANCE

In Local and Sectional Qualifying stages and the Championship proper, players must be neat in appearance with respect to clothing and personal grooming. The Committee in charge decides whether this requirement has been met, and has the authority to withdraw the entry of a player who does not comply. The wearing of short pants is prohibited in the Championship proper, but is permissible in Local and Sectional Qualifying provided the host club does not have a dress code prohibiting such.

FOOD & BEVERAGE SERVICE

Food and beverage items will be available throughout the day in the clubhouse.  Cash and credit cards will be accepted for F & B purchases.

PRIZES

A Silver medal will be presented to the low scorer at the conclusion of the qualifying round.
