The "Horse Race"

 

The teams included in the “Horse Race" will be all 10 flight winners (and ties) and the "Wild Card" team(s) with the highest accumulated point total which did not win a flight. Number of wild card teams depends on the number of teams that qualify by winning their flight (Minimum 12 teams).

 

Format of Play: The "Horse Race" will be an selective drive alternate shot format:

• The teams will play a 5-hole elimination match. The member and guest will play alternate shots.
  • During competition, each player tees off. A drive is selected. The team partner then hits the next shot. Shots are alternated between partners until the ball is holed. For a challenging variation, require each member to use at least 6 tee shots from each player.
  • The number of teams that make the Horse Race will determine the number we eliminate on each hole.
    • A chip-off or putt off may be necessary on holes where ties are involved. 
    • Should the final two teams tie, they will replay hole #3 until a winner is decided.

 

Holes: Teams will play holes 3,1,2,6,9

 

Handicaps for the “Shoot-Out” will be the combined total of each team. USGA Shoot-Out rules for playoffs of less than six holes provide the following handicaps:

 

Combined Handicaps (Alternate Shot): 

0-10    No Strokes       

11-20   One Stroke     

21-30  Two Strokes   

31-40  Three Strokes

41+      Four Strokes
