Ariel Corporation is once again our event title sponsor this year and the proceeds from this year’s event will be split between Dayton Children’s Hospital and Nationwide Children’s Hospital Pulmonary departments (CF Clinics). For those who have supported us over the years we ask for your continued support and if you are seeing this for the first time we ask that you please support us in our work to make this the best golf event in the County to honor Dave’s legacy.
The CF Golf Scramble is an official function of the Dave Schutte Memorial CF Endowment which Dave’s family established to assist CF patients in Ohio who need help coping with this dreadful disease (Primarily kids). Dave passed away on September 14, 2015 at age 57 after battling Cystic Fibrosis his entire life and then fighting pancreatic cancer which was diagnosed in November 2014.
Cystic Fibrosis is a life-threatening, genetic disease that causes a thick buildup of mucus in the lungs, pancreas and other organs. In the lungs, the mucus clogs the airways and traps bacteria leading to infections, extensive lung damage and eventually, respiratory failure. In the pancreas, the mucus prevents the release of digestive enzymes that allow the body to break down food and absorb vital nutrients. Today, the median predicted survival age for CF patients is nearly 40 years. In the 1950s, a child born with CF rarely lived to be six years old. Thanks to tremendous medical advances and a network of support, CF patients are living longer and better lives. In the United States, about 30,000 people currently are living with CF, including 1,500 patients in Ohio. About 165 children and 60 adults with CF are currently treated at Dayton Children’s Hospital and about 236 children and 220 adults are treated at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.
Dave had asked his family to use his employee retirement fund from Ariel to help other CF patients. By carrying out his wishes, we hope he will have a lasting impact on the CF patients battling this illness today. The endowment is administered by the Greene County Community Foundation, also known as Greene Giving, which invests, manages and distributes the endowment gifts as directed by the endowment trustees.

On Thursday 5/3/2018 John Schutte, the endowment administrator for the Dave Schutte Memorial CF Endowment made a check presentation to Dayton Children's Hospital for $7500 thanks to the generosity of many awesome friends and community members from across Ohio! We were also able to set aside a donation of $2500 for Nationwide Children's Hospital's Child Life Program which will be presented soon! Thanks to everyone for helping us make this happen! Let's do it again by supporting this year's Dave Schutte Memorial CF Golf Scramble!
Registration is open now! We encourage all teams to register prior to the day of the event. Teams can register on the day of the event but we cannot guarantee some of the goodies provided to our pre-registered teams. We have a lot of great prizes already lined up and look forward to a seeing you at our event!

All golfers and volunteers will receive this 2 oz DSM shot glass when they visit the Dave Hole! (Filled with Crown Royal of course!)
Also, anyone making a donation at the Dave Hole of $5 or more will be entered into a drawing for a Troy Built Trimmer Package consisting of 5 trimmer components donated by Fast Eddy's! This is an awesome prize opportunity exclusive to those Dave Hole donors!
