RED STAKES W/ GREEN TOP - DO NOT PLAY FROM THIS AREA - Automatic ONE STROKE PENALTY

These ARE NOT LATERAL HAZARD markers.

They are ESA (Enviormental Sensitive Areas) and are unique to SFGC.

If your ball is in the ESA

• You cannot play from there – no matter what the lie is like.
• You must take a drop within 2 club lengths of the point of entry
• One stroke penalty is incurred.

ESA can favor you:

If your ball is not in the ESA but your swing is impeded by any part of the ESA (branch, plant, long grass) then you get a free drop (no penalty) within 2 club lengths
