YELLOW STAKE RULE

Yellow stakes indicate a water hazard line.

You have 3 choices if your ball crosses into a yellow staked area.

  1. You can play it as it lies and, under the new rules of golf, you may ground your club
  2. Drop the ball behind the hazard, in a straight line provided the spot at which you ball last crossed the hazard remains directly between the dropping point and the hole - one stroke penalty
  3. Replay your shot - one stroke penalty

Hole #16

The main yellow staked area at SFGC is on number 16. Its the area 70 yards from the green and directly between the fairway and the green. If your ball travels in here you must keep the crossing point between you and the hole.
