2023 Senior Match Play  

This is a Player of the Year Points Event for the Senior Category

 

Date: May 22nd-23rd, 2023

Location: Loudoun G & CC - Purcellville, VA

Eligibility: MAPGA Members (except A-3 and Inactive) and Associates with playing privileges.  All players must be at least 50 years of age on May 22nd.  All must be in good standing as of the entry deadline and date of each round/match.

 

Compensation Survey:  ALL PLAYERS must complete the compensation survey in order to play in the event.  CLICK HERE to fill out the survey

 

Entry Fee: $200 per person. 

 

Format:  18-hole Singles Match Play.  The #1 seed will be the Defending Champion (Rick Schuller).  The following criteria will be used to determine the #2 to the final seed.  The #2 seed will be the registrant, regardless of gender, who has the highest relative finish on either the MAPGA Senior or Open Player of the Year points list from the previous year.  This procedure will be followed until all registrants with points from either list have been assigned a seed.

 

Monday: The 1st Round (64) will begin Monday morning. Any match ending all square after 18 holes should return to the tenth tee to start a sudden death playoff. Round 2 (32) will be in the afternoon on Monday.  

 

Tuesday:  The 3rd Round (16) will begin Tuesday morning.  The 4th Round (Quarter-Finals) will begin Tuesday afternoon.


The final two matches will be played on a date to be announced.  The semi-final matches will tee of in the morning, and the 18-hole championship match will tee off after lunch.

 

If we have a WD after the deadline but before May 19th at 10AM we will reseed the matches.  If there is any WD after 10 AM on May 19th the player who was scheduled to play the participant that withdrew will win his/her match by forfeit.  

If we are not able to complete any or all of the first 4 rounds, players will arrange their own matches.  Deadlines for each match will be announced based on the number of rounds that must be played before a date to be announced. If any of the matches cannot be completed and the opponents cannot agree on how to complete the match, the tournament director, working with the Tournament Committee, shall resolve how the match(es) will be settled.


Payouts: The number of spots paid will be announced later, but the Top 8 will likely win prize money. 

Tees: Yardages will be approximately 6,200-6,500 yards. Females should play from approximately 85% of the distance of males.
