Entry Fee: $275/team; includes cart and range balls for both players.
The professional entrant must supply their Social Security number as part of the application.
Eligibility: Each team shall consist of one amateur and one professional, but partners do not have to be from the same club. The amateur must be a member of an MSGA member club with an up-to-date USGA index at a licensed club of 8.4 or less as of July 4, 2022. The professional must be employed by a MSGA member club, or be a resident of Maryland. The handicap index must be at the member club shown on the entry form, must be current on the date of the event, and must be viewable on the verification site of GHIN.com.
Entries may be rejected by the MSGA at any time, including during the competition. The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct, such as violation of host club policies, or failure to comply with the requirements of the handicap system.
Refund Policy: A withdrawal made prior to seven days of the event will receive a refund minus a $25 processing fee. To withdraw prior to the entry deadline, players should do so through their Golf Genius user profile. After the entry deadline has passed players should call the MSGA at 410-653-5300 or email the staff in charge listed below. There will not be a refund if a withdrawal is received less than seven days prior to the event without a written medical excuse. All withdrawals will be subject to the $25 processing fee.
Championship Information
Format/Field Size: 18 holes Four-Ball Stroke Play. The field will be limited to the first 60 entries received on a timely basis. Additional teams will be placed on a waiting list.
Carts: Automotive transportation is permitted for players and caddies. A player and his caddie may ride in a golf cart duing a round, but both may not ride at the same time. Spectator Carts will not be permitted during this championship with the exception of a spectator who can provide an issued and active Handicap Permit.
Starting Times: Tournament Starting Times will be emailed approximately one week (7 days) before the event. Times can also be found by visiting the 66th Maryland Pro-Amateur Championship Tournament Portal or www.msga.org.
Practice Rounds: Additional information regarding practice rounds will be updated in the coming weeks.
Tournament Yardage: The official tournament yardage will be updated several days before the event. Female professionals will be playing from 85% of the total tournament yardage.
Estimated Yardage: 6,700-6,900 yards
Prizes: The payout will be to 30% of the number of teams entered. The MSGA will offer a cash prize purse to professionals based on field size i.e. if 30 teams $3500; if 40 teams $4500; if 50 teams $5500, etc. Appropriate prizes will be awarded to the amateur members of such teams. Both winning team members will also receive a trophy. In the event of a tie for first place, a hole-by-hole play-off will follow immediately upon the completion of play.
Rules: USGA Rules govern all play. The player is responsible for being familiar with Local Rules and Conditions of Competition for MSGA Championships.
