About Hinkley Golf Club

Hinckley Golf Club unveiled its new 18-hole layout in 1983, with the clubhouse opening two years later. Ninety years earlier, the club had been formed as Burbage Common Golf Club in 1894, when permission was granted to establish a 6-hole course on Burbage Common.

Over time, land from the adjacent brick yard and quarry site was acquired, allowing extra holes to be added to the initial design. The club recovered from the trauma of losing its clubhouse to fire in 1952 then, thirty years later, with the co-operation of the local council and other authorities, the new club emerged.

Featuring four attractive man-made lakes, the course was designed and built by Southern Golf, a very experienced construction company that has worked extensively in the UK and throughout Europe on many high-end projects.

Configured as two returning nines, the course plays to a par of 71, extending to 6,470 yards, and the round ends somewhat unconventionally here with a long par three. Feature holes include the severely left doglegging par five 4th, the water-laden short par three 12th, and the par four 16th, where more water threatens the right side of the green.

Rules and Information

Golf Format:

The event is played as a four-ball better ball format off 85% of your official handicap using stableford scoring under the rules of golf, and following WHS guidance.

As in any stroke play competition scoring putts must be holed, there is no such thing as a gimme in stroke play competition where you are playing against a field.

Handicap Certificates:

All handicaps will be checked online. Please have a certificate or Golf App available on your phone to show the team.  You may wish to have a certificate on your phone available in case of issues as WHS is not always perfect.

Prizes:

Prizes will be sent out after the event either by email for vouchers or by post.  There will be no prizes handed out on the day or any prize giving.

Golf Carts:

We permit the use of golf carts for medical reasons only.  We accept self certification.  Please arrange directly with the club.
