Toprock Bowl
(Women’s Greensomes Match Play - Pairs Knock Out)
2023 Competition Rules and Conditions
These Rules and Conditions are additional to the Rules for all NAPGC Competitions
Format
- A club team will comprise 2 women playing as a pair at a single venue. Play shall be greensomes match play over 18 holes, or less if a side is more holes ahead than holes remain. If a match is tied the match shall continue on a sudden death playoff from the first tee until one team wins a hole (with shots being taken in accordance with the stroke index where applicable).
Entry and Draw
- Clubs may enter as many teams as they wish. Duly completed entry forms and fees to be returned as directed. Each club shall provide match contact details for their teams. On the day of matches team Captains will be responsible for confirming and agreeing handicaps and allowances.
- Each team will normally be placed in one of four areas with a maximum of 16 teams in each area. The first named team in each match shall have home advantage in the first round. In subsequent rounds the team which has played the most games away shall have home advantage, if this is equal then home advantage will remain with the first named team (this will be confirmed by the Competition Organiser before each round).
- The area winners will be drawn into national semi-finals, which shall be played on neutral courses, mid-point between each club. In the event of teams being unable to agree a neutral venue this will be determined by the Competition Organiser. The winners of each semi-final shall meet in the national final which will be played on a neutral course in September/October. Green fees at the national final will be paid by the NAPGC.
Conditions of Play
- The maximum handicap index is 36.0. Players with higher handicap indexes may play but they will be capped at this maximum limit. All matches should be arranged and played on weekdays (not weekends unless otherwise agreed).
- The stroke allowance is lower course handicap x 0.6, plus the higher course handicap x 0.4 (after adding the unrounded figures the aggregate figure is rounded to provide the playing handicap). The pair with the lowest combined course handicap shall concede the full difference in handicaps to the other pair. All strokes to be taken as per the stroke index table.
- While score cards are not required, players should agree the result before leaving the course. The winning team shall be responsible for reporting the result and player names and indexes to the competition organiser. At the national final, results should be reported as directed by the NAPGC competitions committee.
Winners Trophies and Prizes
- The winning team in each round and at the national final, shall be the one that is more holes ahead than remain to be played or, in the event of a tie, wins the sudden death playoff.
- At the national final the winning team will receive the Toprock Bowl Trophy. Players in the winning team and the runner up team will receive individual awards.
