Maulesbank Trophy Jim Quinn of The Shire beat Alan Woodward of Boyce Hill by 1 hole

Pre-Tournament Information-entry to the Tassie closes at 5pm on the Wednesday before the tournament and after this time any withdrawals will receive no money back and will not be replaced in the tournament. The draw for the qualifying rounds will be on the website no later than the evening of Friday 28th August. If you have a genuine reason to request a specific tee time please contact Colin McLeod (details at the bottom of this note) no later than Monday 24th August. Requests cannot be guaranteed to be met.

Registration for the Championship Qualifying round will be in the Golf Centre near the 1st tee of the Championship Course. Similarly the scoreboards/information board will be in the Golf Centre.

Registration for the Buddon Links Qualifying round will also be in the Golf Centre.

ALL cards should be returned immediately after the completion of your round to the GOLF CENTRE. Failure to do so may lead to disqualification

Sunday- Practice day on the Championship Course and Buddon- 1st tee closes at 3.30pm.The draw for this was done in January and the Championship Course is full. As the Buddon will be new to many players I would strongly advise trying to get a practice round there or at least checking the course out on our website. There are no course guides for the Buddon.

Monday and Tuesday-Qualifying rounds.

It is important for all players to maintain pace of play behind the group in front. Play ready golf. You are responsible for maintaining a good pace. We will have ballspotters on both courses to assist with play. Please be aware of them when playing.

The tees on the Championship Course for the Qualifying rounds will measure approximately 6600 yards and the Buddon will be approximately 5700 yards.

Distance only measuring devices are permitted however the course markings provide accurate yardages. Yardages are on sprinkler heads and measure to the front of the green. On each tee box there is a yardage showing the day’s pin position from the front to the pin. Personal buggies are NOT permitted.

Tuesday Evening draws for Matchplay Events-the target is for us to have both the Tassie and Maulesbank draws into the Clubs within 1 hour and on the internet within 90 minutes of the last cards being input. This is a mammoth task however given we are taking account of almost 700 scorecards we will endeavour to get this information to players as soon as possible. Target time for issue is 9pm-please do not hassle us before this time or I might just disqualify you for fun!!

If you are unable to play in the matchplay or Consolation events please advise an Official in the Golf Centre no later than Tuesday afternoon (8th Sept).

The draws will be formed by the top 64 scratch totals over the 2 rounds going into matchplay on the Championship Course for the Tassie. The top 64 (excluding those in the Tassie Matchplay) nett scores will play in the Maulesbank matchplay on the Buddon. Those tied on the same score/nett score will be decided on the best Championship score/nett score. If tied again then the back 9, 6, 3 and last hole calculations will be made.

CSSs for the Monday and Tuesday rounds will be done the morning after and players should not change their handicap unless we tell you! We have the facility to amend a players handicap and will do so only if considered necessary and that may only happen after the 36 hole qualifying days.

Consolation draws for Wednesday will also be made on the Tuesday evening. The target for getting this on the website is 10pm. This draw will also be available the following morning on the Information Board. Consolation events do not begin until late morning on the Wednesday so there is no rush to access this on the Tuesday.

To ensure players get a fair share of course access all those drawn to play the Buddon on the Wednesday will play the Championship Course on the Thursday and vice versa. These will be drawn in Club order so if there are players wishing to play together they should advise this to an official in the Golf Centre on the Monday or Tuesday before 6pm.

The Consolation events are on a Stableford basis. Following a review CSSs will not be calculated for the Consolation events.

Consolation draws for Thursday will be made on Wednesday

Consolation scorecards should be returned to the relevant Starter straight after play or to the Golf Centre no later than 9am the following morning.

Those who lose their 1st round matchplays will be allocated a place on the opposite course on the Thursday ie 1st round Tassie loser will play Buddon Thursday and 1st round Maulesbank loser will play the Championship Course on Thursday. Players who play in the Matchplay are not permitted to participate in the Consolation event on the same day.

Friday is an informal days play and tee time requests should be made to the Starter no earlier than the Thursday but before 2pm.  Places on the Championship Course are limited so a ballot will take place on Thursday by 4pm and be on the Noticeboard by 5pm. Buddon tee times are less sought after so they can be requested at any time on Thursday or Friday.

Saturday-the semi-finals and finals take place with the presentation of prizes as soon after the Finals as possible in the Carnoustie GC. All players are welcome.

Sundry Information:-

Cards are not returned to Home Clubs for handicap purposes so players should either take their own copy or from Wednesday onwards get a photocopy of the card/s from the Tournament Office in the Golf Centre.

The Golf Centre has a trophy cabinet with the Tassie and Maulesbank Trophy on display. We also have a Tassie Champions Board on the wall.

Extra Golf Outwith the Tournament-Immediately prior to the tournament tee times may be booked by Tassie entrants at 50% discount on any of the courses. In 2015 that means £80 for the Championship Course or £22 for either the Buddon or Burnside. During the tournament week the Burnside is available to book after 2pm by players at the same 50% discount.

Alternatively Monifieth Golf Links are offering a special deal of £35 on their Medal Course and £15 on the Ashludie. To arrange this contact the Secretary on 01382 535553.

Prizes are in the form of vouchers but due to Amateur rules cannot be issued until the player is out of the Tassie or Maulesbank matchplay. These can be collected at the Tournament Office.

Any player who withdraws from the matchplay stages may have their prizewinnings for that retained.
