Additional Local Rules

 

  1. Out of Bounds
  1. Over all boundary walls and fences
  2. Clubhouse enclosure and car park as defined by kerbing and hard surface
  3. The course-side edge of the public roadway from Strandhill village to the clubhouse (left of Hole 10)
  4. As defined by white line / spots to the left of Hole 9.

 

  1. Immovable Obstruction / No Play Zone
  1. The Golf Ireland Tournament Vehicle situated adjacent to the first tee and 18th hole constitutes a No Play Zone, the area of which is defined by Green Spots encircling the structure. 
  2. Where a player’s ball lies inside the green spots (which coincide with the kerbing defining the course boundary), relief MUST be taken without penalty under Rule 16.1.

 

  1. Penalty Area / No Play Zone

The shed adjacent to Holes 1 and 18 is a Red Penalty Area No Play Zone, defined by red stakes with green tops. The following applies: 

  1. Under no circumstances can a player play from within the penalty area. 
  2. The shed is a work site – for health and safety, players are asked not to enter the penalty area to retrieve a ball.
  3. Where it is known or virtually certain that a player’s ball is inside the penalty area, relief MUST be taken under penalty of one stroke in accordance with Rule 17. 
  4. Where a player’s ball lies outside the penalty area but the player’s area of intended stance or swing is interfered with by the penalty area, the player MUST take free relief under Rule 16.1f (2).

 

  1. Integral Object
  1. The area encircled by fencing between the seventh tee and fairway is part of the General Area.

 

  1. Designated Practice Areas

The following are designated practice areas inside the boundaries of the course (practice before or between rounds is permitted in these areas)

  1. The short-iron practice area to the player’s left of Holes 5/6
  2. The chipping area to the rear of Green 10
  3. The putting green between Greens 18 and 10
