Below is the rules sheet for the event:
Format: 36 Holes Stroke play. Play the ball as it lies. Each competitor must hole their ball out on each hole, and count all your strokes including penalty strokes.
Tees:
Men’s Flight: Blue Senior Men’s Flight: White Ladies Flight: Red
Penalty Areas: Defined by red or yellow stakes and/or lines.
Holes #13 and #18 will play as regular Penalty Areas, but in addition to the normal rules
THE DROP AREAS WILL BE IN PLAY THIS YEAR. If your ball enters the penalty area, you may (with one stroke penalty) move to the drop area, drop your ball and proceed.
Wood Chips: If your ball lies on any area with wood chips you will be entitled to free relief, as wood chip areas are considered extensions of cart paths.
Out of Bounds: Defined by white stakes.
Ground Under Repair: Defined by white lines.
Ties: In the case of a tie for the championship the tied players will proceed to the 1st hole for a sudden death playoff. All other ties will be decided by a countback.
3-3. Doubt as to Procedure
During play of a hole if a competitor is doubtful of their rights or procedure, they may without penalty play a second ball. After the doubtful situation has arisen and before taking further action, the competitor should announce to their marker a decision to proceed under this rule and which ball they will score if the rules permit. On completion of the round the competitor shall report to the committee immediately.
Acceptable playing time: 4 hours. Slow play will not be tolerated and will be monitored. A one (1) stroke penalty for slow play – Rule 6.7, a two (2) stroke penalty for a second offense.
In effect this year is Local Rule E-5: “When a player’s ball has not been found or is known or virtually certain to be out of bounds, the player may proceed as follows (rather than proceeding under stroke and distance): for a two stroke penalty, the player may take relief by dropping the original ball or another ball in the relief area. This option allows the player to drop in the large area between where the ball is estimated to have come to rest or gone out of bounds and the edge of the fairway of the hole being played that is no nearer the hole.
Local Root Rule: When the ball comes to rest on a root in your own fairway only, you are entitled to free relief no closer to the hole. This rule does not apply to roots in the rough.
Scorecards: Competitors will exchange the official scorecard with another competitor on the first tee. Scorecards must be signed by both the competitor and the marker.
Good Luck and Have Fun!
