USGA Rules govern play. The following local rules supplement those on the back of the Official Scorecard and the NJSGA Conditions of Competition ‘Hard Card’. Any local rules on a club scorecard should be disregarded.
 

LADIES SHALL PLAY THE GREEN TEES
MEN PLAY BLUE/RED COMPOSITE UNLESS REQUESTED TO PLAY SILVER
(Section 3-5, Playing From Different Tees, USGA HANDICAP SYSTEM will apply)

 

  1. TIME OF STARTING – Note under Rule 6-3 & Optional Condition 1 in Appendix 1 are in effect.
  2. DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES ARE PERMITTED (DECISION 14-3/0.5). See details in Rule 14-3, Appendix 1, and the NJSGA’s clarification on such devices. Note: Devices which possess functionality in addition to distance measuring are PROHIBITED. PLAYERS ARE SUBJECT TO DISQUALIFICATION FOR BREACH OF RULE.
  3. GROUND UNDER REPAIR:
    1. CUT TURF / SOD SEAMS – Through the green, seams of cut turf (not the turf itself) are GUR. If a ball lies in or touches the seam or the seam interferes with the area of intended swing, a player may proceed under Rule 25-1.
    2. French Drains are deemed to be Ground Under Repair (25-1).
    3. Unusual damage due to vehicle traffic (such as tire ruts) is Ground Under Repair (25-1).
    4. Areas on the ground which contain netting (for erosion control) are considered Ground Under Repair (25-1).
    5. All flower beds are to be Ground Under Repair (25-1).
  4. Out of Bounds is defined by white stakes, white lines, and boundary fences. No relief permitted from a boundary fence. Where a boundary fence defines O/B, it does so at the inside points of the fence posts at ground level.
  5. ARTIFICALLY SURFACED ROADS / PATHS INCLUDING CURBING ARE IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS.
    1. WHITE-LINED AREAS WHICH TIE INTO THESE ROADS / PATHS are part of the road/path (Rule 24-2).
    2. Flowerbeds or planted areas which are surrounded by a cart path are deemed to be part of the path (Rule 24-2).
    3. Free relief may be taken from any man made crushed RED ROCK.
  6. PERMANENT STRUCTURES, i.e. bridges, within the margin of water/lateral hazards are integral parts of the golf course.
    1. ALL ROCK OUTCROPPINGS AND WOODEN FENCES ARE AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE GOLF COURSE. NO RELIEF GRANTED.
  7. WOOD CHIPS AND MULCH – are loose impediments.
  8. EMBEDDED BALL THROUGH THE GREEN – Local Rule in Appendix 1 shall be in effect.
  9. STONES IN BUNKERS ARE MOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 24-1).
  10. DOUBT AS TO THE PROPER PROCEDURE (RULE 3-3) - In stroke play, if a competitor is doubtful of his rights or the correct procedure during the play of a hole, he may, without penalty, complete the hole with two balls.  NOTE: PLEASE ONLY USE THIS PROCEDURE IT MIGHT RESULT IN A SCORE OF NET BOGEY OR BETTER.
  11. DISCONTINUANCE OF PLAY – All conditions under Rule 6-8 and the corresponding note in Appendix 1 shall be in effect. All practice areas will be closed during the suspension of play for a dangerous situation until the Committee has declared them open; a player using a practice area is subject to disqualification. In the event of suspension, a dangerous situation shall be signaled by one prolonged air horn blast. All other types of suspension shall be signaled by three short air horn blasts and players shall be verbally informed by the Committee.  Resumption of play signaled by one air horn blast.

 

Format: Individual Net–Stableford Scoring


Each player play his or her low ball until it is holed. The net score will be tallied using the Stableford (points) scoring system. Net Bogey – 1 point, Net Par, 2 points, Net Birdie 3 points, Net Eagle 4 points, Net Double Eagle or Hole in One on a Par 3 – 5 points. Golfers are encouraged to pick-up if they cannot hole out for a Net Bogey or better.
