COVID-19 CHAMPIONSHIP POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

All contestants should be familiar with the policies and procedures in place.

 

COVID-19 CHAMPIONSHIP PARTICIPANT WAIVER

All contestants MUST sign the participant waiver prior to arriving at the championship. The waiver will be emailed to all contestants to sign digitally using DocuSign.

 

FIELD LIMIT

60 sides (120 players)

 

ENTRY DEADLINE

Entry applications, along with the appropriate fee, must be completed or received by WA Golf by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2021.

 

REFUND POLICY

Refunds due to cancellation before the close of entry are subject to a $10 service charge. After the close of entry, refunds will not be issued unless the team is replaced by a team on the waiting list.

 

FORMAT

36-hole 2-person four-ball (often referred to as Best-Ball). Gross and net awards will be awarded in each flight. 

 

FLIGHTS

The field will be divided into three flights by team course handicap. Flights (preliminary) are posted on the championship portal HERE, and will be finalized on Friday, May 14 after handicaps have been updated

 

HANDICAPS

Handicap Indexes on Friday, May 14 will be used for the championship. Players will receive 85% of their playing handicap for net scoring. The maximum allowable playing handicap per player is 36. Players above this will be reduced to meet this requirement.

 

COURSE YARDAGE

Course yardage is subject to change based on weather/course conditions. Yardages are posted on the championship portal HERE. Flight 1 will play tees at 5785 yards, Par 73 and Flight 2 and 3 will play tees at 5,217 yards, Par 73.

 

PRACTICE ROUND

Contestants will be permitted to play one complimentary practice round prior to the championship. Practice rounds may be scheduled 5 days in advance by calling the golf shop at (206) 242-2222.

 

Practice rounds will be available during the following times: Monday, May 10 and Tuesday, May 11 after 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 14 after 2:00 p.m., and Sunday, May 16 after 2:00 p.m. All practice round starting times are at the discretion of the golf shop staff. 

 

When making reservations, contestants must identify themselves as Washington Women’s Four-Ball Championship participants. WA Golf will send a player list on the morning of May 4 after entries have closed.

 

ONSITE REGISTRATION

All contestants must register in person with WA Golf at Rainier Golf & Country Club prior to playing the championship. Registration will be located outside the golf shop during the following times:

SUNDAY, MAY 16: 11:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

MONDAY, MAY 17:                                               9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

 

SHOTGUN AND PAIRINGS

Round 1 and 2 will be 11:00 a.m. shotgun starts. Pairings will be released by Friday, May 14. Preferred starting time requests will not be accepted. Starting times will be posted on the championship portal and will be emailed to each player. Teams will be re-paired by gross scores for the final round.

 

SCHEDULE

MONDAY, MAY 17: Round 1 – 11:00 a.m. shotgun start.
A boxed lunch will be available for pick-up before the shotgun start.

 

TUESDAY, MAY 18: Round 2 – 11:00 a.m. shotgun start.
A boxed lunch will be available for pick-up before the shotgun start.

Awards ceremony following the round after all scores have been entered.

 

BOXED LUNCHES (Hosted)

MONDAY – Choice of the following:

  • Turkey Pesto on ciabatta, Swiss cheese, pesto mayo, lettuce, tomato, bag of chips, apple, and cookie.
  • Chipotle Ham on ciabatta, provolone, chipotle mayo, lettuce, tomato, bag of chips, apple and cookie.


TUESDAY – Choice of the following:

  • Cranberry Turkey on ciabatta, Swiss cheese, cranberry mayo, lettuce, tomato, bag of chips, apple, and cookie.
  • Ham and Cheese Club on ciabatta, cheddar, bacon, mayo, lettuce, tomato, bag of chips, apple and cookie.

 

FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICE (No-Host)
Bar Cart will be stationed near the Coffee/Water refill station throughout the day for any additional beer/liquor/wine/soda purchases on Monday and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

 

The Snack Bar near the back patio will be open from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday for menu and beverage purchases before the awards ceremony.

 

BOTTLED WATER

WA Golf will provide bottled water during the championship. Coolers will be at multiple locations on the golf course.

 

ACCEPTED PAYMENT OPTIONS

Golf Shop, Bar Cart and Snack Bar - Cash, Visa, MasterCard and charge back to private clubs.  

 

HOURS OF OPERATION

The golf shop and clubhouse will be open from 8:00 a.m. until dusk. The driving range will open from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. 

 

RANGE BALLS

Warm Range balls will be provided to contestants, prior to each round, courtesy of the WA Golf beginning at 9:00 a.m. 

 

CLUB CARE AND STORAGE

Overnight bag storage will not be available.  

 

LOCKER ROOM

The women’s locker room is available for player use. Lockers will not be available. The locker room is located on the second floor of the clubhouse.

 

AUTOMOTIVE CARTS

The use of automotive carts during championship play will be permitted. Carts have been reserved for those teams who paid for one during registration. Teams will be allowed one cart per team.  Cart fees were to be paid at the time of entry and are $40 per cart, per day. Teams who did not pay for a cart during registration and wish to reserve one, need to contact WA Golf. Carts will be staged each morning with player names on them. Carts may not be available onsite without a reservation.

 

CHAMPIONSHIP ACCOMMODATIONS FOR DISABLED SPECTATORS

WA Golf is committed to providing an enjoyable spectator experience for people with disabilities at WA Golf Championships. Requests from spectators seeking transportation onto the golf course due to a permanent disability, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), must be submitted to a WA Golf staff member on site. While spectator carts are not allowed, the WA Golf will make every effort to accommodate these requests by assigning a WA Golf volunteer driver based on availability. The driver will transport the spectator to viewing locations throughout the golf course, not shot-by-shot or hole-by-hole.

 

Spectators with transportation needs should contact the WA Golf Championship Department at (206) 526-8605, option 5, prior to the championship so that arrangements can be made to have a driver on site.

 

Requests due to temporary injuries or impairments will not be granted.

 

Only spectators who have complied with the above procedures and met the requirements will be permitted to ride. Every possible effort will be made to ensure that spectators with permanent disabilities are able to view the competition.

 

PULL CARTS

The use of pull carts during the championship is permitted. Players who use pull carts should not pull them between greens and bunkers or across teeing grounds. A limited number of pull carts will be available for use through the golf shop.

 

CADDIES

Host club caddies are not available. Players may provide their own caddie. Caddies must wear a caddie bib which can be picked up with your scorecard each morning and must be returned with your scorecard after each round.

 

SCORING AREA

WA Golf will collect scorecards under the player registration tent. Scoring will be all digital using Golf Genius.

 

PRIZES

All prizes will be awarded according to 36-hole, four-ball stroke play, gross and net scores. The overall gross champions will have their names inscribed on the base of the perpetual trophy. In addition, Kusak crystal awards and merchandise credit will be presented to the overall gross and net champions as well as the first and second gross and net finishing teams in each flight. Merchandise credit will also be awarded to other high finishing gross and net teams in each flight.  NOTE: All merchandise credit must be redeemed in the Rainier Golf & Country Club golf shop and should be used prior to the end of the year. 

 

Kusak crystal will be awarded to any contestant who scores a hole-in-one or an eagle during the championship.

 

AWARDS CEREMONY

An awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 18 following the shotgun after all scores have been entered. The ceremony will take place on the back patio.  

 

EXEMPTIONS

The 2021 Washington Women’s Four-Ball Champions (gross) will receive an exemption into the 2022 Women’s Four-Ball Championship and the 2022 Washington Champion of Champions. Team must be comprised of the same players to receive the Four-Ball exemption.

 

PERFORMANCE POINTS

Performance Points are not awarded for the Washington Women’s Four-Ball Championship.

 

GHIN SCORE POSTING

WA Golf will post competition scores for all players to the USGA GHIN System. For posting purposes, any time a hole is not finished, players must mark down X and their most likely score. Example: X5 or X8.

 

DRESS CODE

Players and caddies must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing while on host club property. The WA Golf Dress Code Policy is available at the following link: wagolf.org/policies and will be provided to all players, along with any additional measures required by the host club, in the Player Memorandum.

 

CODE OF CONDUCT

WA Golf expects all contestants, caddies, gallery, and guests to exhibit proper conduct and behavior on the golf course and anywhere on club property during a WA Golf Championship. Unbecoming conduct or behavior may be grounds for immediate disqualification, at any time, from any WA Golf event. The following are some examples of unbecoming conduct or behavior:

  • Repeated use of loud, abusive, and/or profane language

 

  • Throwing and/or breaking equipment (club, ball, etc.) in anger or frustration
  • Damaging host club, WA Golf, and/or fellow contestant property
  • Public criticism or verbal abuse of host club, officials, volunteers or staff, and/or WA Golf volunteers, staff or fellow contestants
  • Potential endangerment of others
  • Intentionally violating stated club policy
  • Violation of WA Golf Dress Code and/or Footwear Policy
  • Other conduct deemed unbecoming

 

The Committee in charge of the competition shall be the sole judge of determining Conduct Code violations.

 

UNOFFICIAL WITHDRAWAL

After the entry deadline and during play of the championship, players must notify WA Golf and state her need to withdraw. Entrants who unofficially withdraw (by not notifying WA Golf or without having sufficient reason) will not be granted entry into any future WA Golf Championship for a minimum of two years.

 

PACE OF PLAY POLICY

Players are encouraged to be familiar with WA Golf’s Pace of Play Policy, which is in effect at all championships.

 

LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION

Players are encouraged to be familiar with WA Golf’s 2021 Local Rules and Terms of the Competition, which will be in effect at all championships.

 

PROHIBITED USE OF AUDIO EQUIPMENT

Rule 4.3 is modified in this way: During a round, a player is not allowed to use an electronic device to listen to music or other audio (such as podcasts or the like), including by using speakers, headphones or earbuds. Penalty for breach of Local Rule - see Rule 4.3.
