Championship Accommodations for Disabled Spectators

The PNGA is committed to providing an enjoyable spectator experience for people with disabilities at PNGA Championships. Requests from spectators seeking transportation onto the golf course due to a permanent disability, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), must be submitted to a PNGA staff member on site. While spectator carts are not allowed, the PNGA will make every effort to accommodate these requests by assigning a PNGA volunteer driver based on availability. The driver will transport the spectator to viewing locations throughout the golf course, not shot-by-shot or hole-by-hole.

Spectators with transportation needs should contact the PNGA Championship Department at
(206) 526-1238 Ext. 3 prior to the championship so that arrangements can be made to have a driver on site.

Requests due to temporary injuries or impairments will not be granted.

Only spectators who have complied with the above procedures and met the requirements will be permitted to ride. Every possible effort will be made to ensure that spectators with permanent disabilities are able to view the competition.

Pull Carts

Contestants who use pull carts must not take them close to putting greens or across tees and should pull them around the outside edge of all greenside bunkers.

Caddies

Host club caddies will not be available. A contestant may provide his own caddie. Caddies will be required to wear a caddie bib, provided by the PNGA on the starting tee.

Handicaps

Entrants must have a USGA Handicap Index or Golf Canada Handicap Factor of 36.4 or less (partners’ course handicaps must be within 8 strokes of one another or an adjustment will be made to the player with the higher course handicap to meet this requirement). NOTE: The maximum allowable course handicap will be 36 (players above this will be reduced to meet this requirement). Handicaps will be updated with the scheduled revision on September, 15, 2019.

CHAPMAN: The net score for the round will be obtained by subtracting the team handicap (60% of the low player’s course handicap + 40% of the high player’s course handicap) from the total gross score.

SCRAMBLE: The net score for the round will be obtained by subtracting the team handicap (35% of the low player’s course handicap + 15% of the high player’s course handicap) from the total gross score

FOUR-BALL: Each player will receive 90% of their course handicap for net scoring.

GHIN Score Posting (Four-Ball Only)

The PNGA will post and transmit the adjusted scores for all players on the USGA GHIN System for handicapping purposes. Players with a Golf Canada Handicap Factor will have their scores sent to BC Golf for posting.

Reduction of Course Handicap

The PNGA Championship Committee reserves the right to adjust the course handicap of any competitor in the 2019 PNGA Men's Senior or Super Senior Team Championship. A reduction of a competitor's course handicap will be based on the following criteria:

High finishers in the NET portion of the PNGA Senior Men’s Amateur Championship – Open Division and the PNGA Men’s Senior and Super Senior Team Championships during the past two-year period will be awarded points accordingly as per the table below. Points may also be given to include a person or team that collects a gross division prize as the points are not limited to the 5 highest net finishers, but the 5 best net scores in the field.

NOTE: For the 2019 PNGA Men’s Senior and Super Senior Team Championships, reductions will be based on points accumulated from the 2017 and 2018 PNGA Men’s Senior Team and Super Senior Team Championships and the 2018 and 2019 PNGA Senior Men’s Amateur – Open Division.

Any contestant, who accumulates 7 points over the two-year period, will have their course handicap reduced by 2 strokes for use during the championship. Any contestant who accumulates more than 7 points during the two-year period, will have their course handicap reduced an additional 1 stroke for each additional two points accumulated.

In the case of a tie for one of the first 5 places, each of the individuals or teams would earn the full number of points for that placing. For example: Two individuals tie for 2nd place. Each individual would earn 4 points under this system.  You would not give out 3rd place points (or add 2nd & 3rd place points together and divide by 2) under this scenario. The next finisher in line after the two individuals that tied would earn 2 points for the 4th place. No fractions of points are awarded.

Awards Ceremony

Awards presentations will be in the Olympic Banquet Room, on Friday, September 20, after the conclusion of the shotgun and in conjunction with the contestants’ luncheon.

Prizes

Kusak crystal prizes will be awarded to the gross and net champions of the field in each championship. Merchandise certificates will be awarded to the top finishing gross and net teams.

Kusak crystal prizes will be presented to the gross and net champions of both fields at the awards ceremony. Contestants are encouraged to attend the awards ceremony. Due to the fragile nature of the awards, the PNGA will not mail crystal prizes. In the event of a tie for the gross championship, the winners will be decided immediately by a hole-by-hole playoff. Except for ties of the overall gross championship, Matching Scorecards will be used to determine winners for crystal and merchandise as outlined by the USGA in Section 5A(6) of Committee Procedures.

Exemptions

The 2019 PNGA Men’s Senior Team Champions will receive an exemption in to the 2020-2024 PNGA Men’s Senior Team Championships. The 2019 PNGA Men’s Super Senior Team Champions will receive an exemption in to the 2020-2024 PNGA Men’s Super Senior Team Championships.  The team must be comprised of the same two players to receive this exemption.

Performance Points

Performance points are not awarded for the PNGA Men’s Senior Team and Super Senior Team Championships.
