Napier Golf Club – Local Rules
Updated for Tournament Play
Conditions of Entry
- Competitors must be full playing members of an affiliated NZ Golf Club.
- Entries close February 12, 2026. Fee includes Friday practice round and Saturday lunch.
- Field restricted to first 120 prepaid entries.
- All players are entered into two divisions, 1) Overall, by Lowest Gross Female, Lowest Gross Male. 2) Mixed age division U20, U50, 50+ Gross and Net.
- Males play from BLUE tees (Par 72). Females play from YELLOW Tees (Par 72).
- Handicaps locked as of February 12, 2026.
- Saturday draw seeded by handicap; Sunday draw seeded by gross result.
- Winner decided by best overall Gross score over the event (54-Holes).
- In case of a tie the 18th Hole will be played again until a winner is decided.
- Speed of Play - Players will be warned if they are losing ground on the group in front. Course Marshalls will warn a group firstly and if slow play continues may penalise players in the group.
- Cart use - As a New Zealand Order of Merit carts may only be used with a medical certificate signed off be the pro Andrew Henare.
Code of Conduct
Code of Conduct - adopted as a Local Rule to protect the safety of other course users playing or working on hole 14. Rule 1.2b If a player has intentionally played a stroke from the hole 13 teeing area towards the general area of hole 14, then that player is in breach of the Code of Conduct and will get the General Penalty. Speed of Play - A warning then a penalty will be given to groups who lose ground on the group in front.General Play
- Preferred Lies - No Placing.
- Ready Golf – Players may play out of turn safely to maintain pace.
- Repair pitch marks, divots, and rake bunkers. Leave rakes in the center of bunkers.
Boundaries & Out of Bounds
- Course Boundaries are defined by boundary fence posts, white lines & white pegs.
- All closed boundary fence gates are deemed to be boundary objects.
- A ball coming to rest beyond a public road is deemed Out of Bounds even if it lies on part of the course which is in bounds for other holes marked by boundary fence posts, white stakes, or lines
Penalty Areas
- Small area right of Holes 2 & 3.
- Forested areas left of Holes 11, 12, and 15.
No Play Zones
- [1] All staked and roped off areas which are not marked as GUR
- [2] Formed & tended gardens
- [3] Staked trees or trees that are less than 2 club lengths in height.
- Take free relief under Rule 16.1f
- Penalty for playing from a No Play Zone - General Penalty
Obstructions & Relief
- All stakes (except boundary pegs) are immovable – free relief under Rule 16.1.
- Practice bunkers left of Holes 11, and 15 and right of hole 10 are ground under repair – free relief under Rule 16.1b.
- All formed paths and roads are immovable obstructions – free relief under Rule 16.1.
- Boundary fence gates are part of the fencing.
Distance Markers
Sprinkler heads and fairway markers measure to the center of the green:
- Blue – 170m
- White / Conifer Trees – 135m
- Red – 100m
