| Format | Individual 18-Hole Stroke Play |
| Eligibility | The competition is open to male amateur golfers who reside in the MGA territory and do not have playing privileges at any course (e.g. a golf facility outside of the Met Area) at which the general public is excluded. A person who does not reside in the MGA territory, and who is not a full-time student or employed in the MGA territory, cannot join a club for the purpose of entering the MGA Public Links Championship. |
| Handicap | All entrants must have an individual up-to-date Handicap Index based on ratings for men not exceeding 8.0 under the USGA Handicap System and are subject to the MGA Rules and Regulations. |
