The competition is open to male amateur golfers who reside in the MGA territory and do not have playing privileges at any course (e.g. a golf facility outside of the Met Area) at which the general public is excluded. A person who does not reside in the MGA territory, and who is not a full-time student or employed in the MGA territory, cannot join a club for the purpose of entering the MGA Public Links Championship.

All entrants must have an individual up-to-date Handicap Index based on ratings for men not exceeding 8.0 under the USGA Rules of Handicapping and are subject to the MGA Rules and Regulations.

1. MGA Public Links Champions for the last 5 years

2. Past Champions of Ike, Met Amateur, Met Open, and MGA Mid-Amateur.

3. Five lowest scores (& ties) in the 2019 MGA Public Links Championship

4. Reigning Ike, Amateur, Mid-Am, Junior, and Carter Cup Champions

5. Low Amateur in the 2019 Met Open Championship and 2019 NYSGA Amateur Champion

6. Reigning WGA, NJSGA and CSGA Public Links Champions

7. Reigning NJSGA, WGA, NYC, and CSGA Amateur Champions

8. The 2019 MGA Player of the Year Honor Roll

9. Anyone exempt for the Met Amateur and/or Met Open Championships will also be exempt to the MGA Public Links Championship

10. Club Champion at the Championship Host Club (Pound Ridge)

11. Special invitees of the MGA Executive Committee
