Format |
This event is a one-day 18-hole stroke play competition. In the event of a tie for the last qualifying position(s), all ties will qualify.
Each qualifying site will be allocated a set number of qualifying positions based on the size of the field, which will be communicated prior to the event.

Eligibility |
The competition is open to golfers who are:
1) PGA Members in good standing in the Long Island Section.
2) PGA Associates, employed at a golf facility in the Long Island section, who are enrolled in the Professional Golf Management (‘PGM’).
3) Professional golfers who are residents of Long Island and not employed outside the Long Island section at the time of the tournament.
4) Amateur members of MGA Member Clubs on Long Island, members of the MGA eClub – Long Island or USGA/MGA GC who reside on Long Island, and members of the MGA eClub – New York City or USGA/MGA GC who reside in Brooklyn, Staten Island, Queens, or Manhattan* with an individual up-to-date Handicap Index based on ratings for men not exceeding 4.0 under the USGA Rules of Handicapping.
*MGA eClub – NYC or USGA/MGA GC members who reside in Manhattan may play in either LIGA or WGA events, not both.
5) Applicants for Amateur Reinstatement and Professionals who are members at Long Island MGA Member Clubs with an individual up-to-date Handicap Index based on ratings for men not exceeding 4.0 under the USGA Rules of Handicapping. A professional may not join a club for the sole purpose of entering the LI Open.

Alternate Policy |
Players who miss qualifying by 1-2 strokes will be added to an alternates list for the Long Island Open Championship. Alternates will be selected beginning with those who missed the cut by one stroke and continuing to those who missed by two strokes if necessary. Alternates will only be selected prior to the release of the Championship pairings if the Championship field size is below the minimum of 132 players. If the field is above 132 players, alternates will only be selected to ensure all pairings are full or to replace a withdraw that was already in the field.
Alternates will be selected in order starting with the 1st alternate at Bethpage, followed by the 1st alternate at Indian Hills, continuing until the field is filled. The tie breaker among alternates with the same qualifying score will be determined via USGA Match of Cards.
If a spot becomes available in the Championship, alternates will be contacted directly by the staff. The cutoff date for alternate selection is Friday, May 31. On-site alternates will not be permitted.

Carts/Caddies |
• Players are permitted to use a golf cart for the qualifier.
• Players may bring their own caddie.
• Players may carry their own bag.
• Pull carts will be approved on a course by course basis, please consult the Memorandum to Players.
• It is strongly recommended that caddies wear shoes without spikes or tread.
• Final information will be released in the Memorandum to Players, which will be released prior to the event.
