LMGC General Tournament Day Instructions (TDI)

Find your group GGID# on your scorecard to support mobile gross score entries for your group. Also find your flight on the scorecard. This is important for the Closest-to-pin (CTP) side pots game

See a video of mobile app scoring instructions…<HERE>

To Participate in Putts and GIR’s, You Must Document the Totals on the Scorecard

Total putts and GIR’s for front nine, total for back nine, and total all 18. See the example scorecard below.

Be Ready and a Bit Early to the First Tee

Don’t be surprised when your tee time approaches and the opportunity exists to tee off on Hole #1 earlier than the published tee time. I call for all members of all groups to arrive at the first tee ten minutes before the published tee time. Go ahead and get your group moving when the landing area is clear.

There might be some days when conditions allow and they are fifteen to twenty minutes early with tee times. It is to your advantage to tee off as directed by the staff at the Wood.

Practice Ready Golf

NO GAPS BETWEEN GROUPS: Please review LMGC ready golf tips <HERE> and have a good round

Cart Rule at Lakewood Country Club

We want carts to be available for everyone who wants to ride, so kindly adhere to the course policy that carts are populated with two riders. In a group with only one player riding and all others walking, then a single rider will be allowed.

Find our club room at the west end of the driving range for the pre-tournament check in where you may pick up the scorecard for your group. After the round, compare and resolve hole-by-hole score entries from the paper scorecard compared to the GolfGenius mobile app scores, and please turn in the correct, completed and signed paper scorecards (rule 3.3b). Verify totals for putts and GIRs, then find the box for turning in your completed scorecards in our club room near our club computer.

General Tournament Day Instructions

Closest-to-Pin (CTP) contest on our par 3’s

Check the scorecard that was printed for your group and find your individual flights listed there. Depending on the number of participants, we usually have five individual flights for side pots and CTP’s. Be sure to enter the player’s name under the proper flight column on the CTP cards. If you are in doubt about your flight, look at the scorecard! Find additional CTP rules on our webpage for “Tournament News and Information.”

Rules and Scoring

Play per USGA rules – may also use LMGC Local Rules per the LMGC website.

Your group GGID# is found on the scorecard. On your mobile device, sign in on the GolfGenius app & record gross scores for all players in your group. Ensure those hole-by-hole scores match the paper scorecard. At the end of the round, review mobile entries and turn in signed paper scorecards to the box in the club room

More

There are no gimmee putts in our monthly stroke play tournaments, which is the usual procedure per USGA rules. A violation of the rules may result in a disqualification from the tournament.  Putt out to finish out the hole and ensure that the proper gross score, hole-by-hole, is marked on the scorecard, both paper and mobile.

·        Find our Hole-in-One Participants list online -or- in the club room when you check in. If your name is not already on the list, pay $5 in the club room on the day of the event and add your name if you care to participate.

·        Please support mobile scoring. Lack of electronic input by the groups creates extra data input work for someone on the tournament committee.

·        Find ready golf tips HERE & employ their use for a reasonable pace of play. Use provisional shots if needed to avoid falling behind.

·        Adopt two holes to keep the course in great shape. See the Hole Assignment list on the Tournament News and Information web page.

·        Input gross scores on both the scorecard and mobile input. If you do not keep track of the mobile scores while on the course, take a moment before you turn in your scorecard to input your gross scores in the mobile app.

·        On the paper scorecard, be sure to total the putts and GIRs for each player since the tournament director does not add these up. Find “NC” in the results for cases where the putts or GIRs were not totaled on the paper scorecard.

·        After input of the scores in the mobile app, turn in your signed paper scorecard in our club room - find the collection box on the table with our club computer.

·        Do NOT post your own scores the committee will post these tournament scores to GHIN as an outing played from the noted tees. The score will be posted as “Competition” if played as a low net game, or “Home” if otherwise.

Swing Smoothly,

Dan Wamba

A Description of Some Common Games We Play

We try to have 5 flights for side pots of CTP's; GIR's & Putts - 1st & 2nd each flight; Skins each flight; and 2 places for Gross per flight.

For 2 Man Better Ball tournaments we play in 2-person teams where each player on the team plays his or her own golf ball throughout the round. After each hole the player with the lowest net score on the hole (or “best ball”) out of the 2-person team is recorded as the team's score. We try to have 3 Team Flights for this game. Hole-by-hole scores are posted to GHIN for you by the tournament committee, so please do not post your own scores.

For 4 Man Team with 1 Low Gross AND 1 Low Net tournaments we play in 4-person teams where each player on the team plays his or her own golf ball throughout the round. After each hole we take the lowest net and gross scores on the hole which is recorded as the team's score. We try to have 3 Team Flights for this game. Hole-by-hole scores are posted to GHIN for you by the tournament committee, so please do not post your own scores.

Individual Low Net is self-explanatory. Do not post your own score to GHIN since the tournament committee will post this for you.

Nassau games, either front nine or back nine. Yes, we play all eighteen holes. Do not post your own score to GHIN since the tournament committee will post this for you.

Front Nine Nassau Low Net tournament - this event pays more on the front nine than the back nine and total. For example, 50% on the front 9 score, 25% on the back nine score, and 25% total.

Back Nine Nassau Low Net tournament - this event pays more on the Back nine than the front nine and total. For example, 50% on the back 9 score, 25% on the front nine score, and 25% total.
